Very rare sequel created by a section of Enix. It is supposedly a continuation of Dragon Quest 4, starring Taloon the merchant. It is part of the "mysterious dungeon" games in Japan, of which the upcoming Square title "Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon" also belongs. These games share some traits, but the stories are unrelated. The dungeons in these games are randomly generated, so it's never the same the next time you play.

A bit more information... Your HP slowly regenerates as you explore the dungeons. Also, if you reach zero HP, the monsters will drag you to the entrance of the cave and toss you uncerimoniously out on the ground ^_^ You are then dragged back to the castle by guards and the King revives you.

The monsters are standard DQ monsters Slimes, Slugs, Magicians, etc. You run around collecting weapons and various items in the dungeons. What else would you expect an Arms Merchant to do? :P The object appears to be to collect the most gold possible.

Taloon can equip weapons, sheilds, and even a bow all at the same time. You can use the bow to attack from a distance until the monster closes, then whack them with your sword.

Taloon also picks up food and healing herbs to help keep him healthy. He also is able to acquire magical rods from his enemies. The one I have found causes monsters to be afraid of you, running away instead of attacking. You can corner them and whack away without being hurt

Taloon can read spell scrolls! These are found lying on the dungeon floor or acquired from defeated enemies. Read the spell scroll and Taloon unleashes a burst of magic on all visible enemies!

There are traps hidden throughout the dungeons. I have encountered, arrow traps, pitfalls (drop you to lower levels of the dungeon), sleep gas traps, and poison traps. Using any form of healing herb or food eliminates poison from your system. Taloon will sometimes detect these traps, allowing you to pass over them without triggering them.

You can only carry and be equipped with a total of 20 items at one time. You must choose carefully which ones you will keep and which ones you will drop or leave.

Here are the menu commands I have deciphered so far..
