Finally Enix has released some information and pictures about this. It seems to be sprite based but in a 3d world. Which results in an incredible effect, with graphics looking as good or even better than Final Fantasy VII's!

| The Hero - Like your typical Dragon Quest game he doesn't have a name, but you name him as usual. He lives in a small fishing village and dreams of becoming a great fisherman like his father. He is accompanied by a small iguana-like pet. | |

| Marybelle - She is the daughter of the all the Fishermen's boss. Snotty, spoiled and noisy. An annoying little girl. | |
