The Making of a Hero ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 5G, 25G, 50G, Antidote, Club x 2, Herb, LUCKseed, Stick, STRseed, TinyMedal x 2, Traveler Suit. After picking your name and gender out, you'll be in a forest glade. This might seem odd to those who've played DW3 on the NES, but this's how we'll find your Hero's personality. Walk north, to the edge of the waterfall. Here, you'll have to answer questions truthfully. Don't lie, just answer them in the way you best believe you should. After that, you'll have to answer a final question. This's in the guise of a trial, where your actions'll reflect the real you. I don't know them all, but when I do, I shall put them here. I had the Monster In the Well trial, and I just escaped from town without frying more than one person. >"< I'm a Valiant Hero! ^^v After this, you shall awaken on your 16th birthday. You're ready to depart and take up your father, Ortega's, footsteps, and try to purge the evil from the land. But you need to speak to the King, and find out your mission in greater detail. Before leaving your room, examine the nearby dresser, and pick up a STRseed! ^^ These can be used to boost your stats. Your mom will lead you to Aliahan Castle. Head inside, and continue straight north up some stairs, before you arrive at the King's throneroom. He'll remind you of your father's demise, and bless your mission against Baramos, the Demon Lord. The world's survived all these years while you were growing up only because Baramos hasn't pressed his attack yet, but remained hiding in the shadows. He has to be stopped before greater harm can occur! The King'll recommend that you get yourself some companions, and give you 50G to buy equipment, as well as giving you two Clubs, a Stick, and a Traveler Suit. This's equipment to save the world with? Taxes must not be very high in Aliahan. To the southwest on this floor, you'll find a room with a LUCKseed in its dresser. You'll also hear some gossip from the people in this room, and the room east of it, about things like how to reach Promontry Cave, and how it is supposed to lead to Najimi Tower. Head back down a floor, so we can explore the rest of the Castle! West of the stairs, you can head north, and chat with the Princess, or explore the local jail in the door to the east of her. Bakota, the master thief, is locked here, and complains that someone in Najimi Tower took his Thief Key, which can open many of the locked doors we've come across. If we go back upstairs, and go east and south when we went north to find the Princess, we can find a few more locked doors, and a room with some barrels. There's a TinyMedal in the barrel on the left, and an Antidote in the one to the right. Nice! ^^ Back outside the castle, hug the outer wall as you move to the east, and north, before trying to move west at the very end. You'll find a little hidden courtyard, and you'll be able to talk to the woman here about the Traveler's Gate at the very eastern part of the continent. Your father used it to leave this land, so you'll want to find that later! ^^ Let's explore Aliahan, by starting at our very own house. One of the two barrels on the first floor has an Herb in it, and your mother has some endearing words for you to hear, as well as some free rooms for healing! Upstairs, you can speak to your grandfather, and raid his dresser for 5G. He would want you to have it, so don't feel guilty. ^^ Outside your house, and to the east, is an Inn, where you may recover after a long hard day of smacking monsters in the head with your prefered sort of weapon. Upstairs, you can chat with a bed-ridden man, who had a mishap with a Magic Bomb he was making. If we ever need one, maybe we can find someone just a little more capable. ^^; North and a little west of the Inn is an Item Shop, where you can buy some items for your journey. Herbs heal you, Antidote relieves poison, and WarpWings can teleport you around. You can also nab a PotLid shield if you want, but don't spend all your money in one place! Directly north of your house is Ruida's Tavern, where you can recruit people to accompany your journey! First, you'll want to get the 25G from the barrel behind the Tavern, of course. ^^ Inside, you can pick from a pre-made group of adventurers, or construct your own. You can also store Gold in the Gold Bank of Loving Trust here, but only in 1000G increments. Any party can get through the game, though some're easier than others. Just go with a party that feels comfortible to you! ^^ To the east of the Inn, is the Weapon Shop. This's where you'll want to start to earn better gear for your monster-thrashing pleasure. Some things can be expensive, but fighting monsters is good, as you'll gain experience along with the gold. East of the Weapon Shop is a Well. Inspect it, and you'll find an underground Medal Manor! You'll learn about Monster Medals here, and you can redeem your TinyMedals for prizes. He'll hold onto any Medals you bring him, so feel free to hand over your current TinyMedal. You can examine the bookshelf to find the complete Medal Prize List, if you want. North of the Well, you'll find a house, but the enterance is being blocked by a woman. She mentions day turning into night, so maybe we could come back at night to see what's inside? If you do, go upstairs to check her dressers, and you'll find another TinyMedal in the one on the right! Further north of that house, you'll find a Temple, for healing and reviving your departed partymembers. That's Aliahan, so let's wander outside the town and begin to grow stronger, before we start our quest for real. ~~~~~~~~~~ 2B1. Reeve ~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Muscle Book, TinyMedal. Now that you're outside, you'll want to get into some battles. Each battle'll earn you more EXP, and more EXP'll increase your levels, making your party stronger and tougher than they are now. You might even get a few Monster Medals! ^^ After you feel you've gotten up a few levels, heal up, then head north of Aliahan, before going west to cross the bridge. Continue north, and west as you hit the water's edge, until you can again go north. Do so, and you'll find the village of Reeve! Right to the northeast of where you come in, you'll find an Item Shop, which has different things for sale than Aliahan's Item Shop did. You should always check each new town for newer and better items, weapons, and armor. To the right of the Item Shop, you'll find a normal house. But its bookshelf has a Muscle Book in it, that you can help yourself to. ^^v South of the Item Shop, you can find the Inn. It works just like Aliahan's, so get those HP and MP refilled! East of the Inn is a Weapon Shop. They have lots of new weapons for sale, and good armor too, so stock up. East of the Weapon Shop, you'll see someone trying to push a boulder. Just push it aside for them, and search the spot underneath where the boulder was, for a TinyMedal! North of that, is a Temple, incase you need it. That's all there is to Reeve right now, so head on back outside when you're set. We're going to check out those rumors of a strange-looking place near Reeve. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2C1. Promontry Cave and Najimi Tower ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 32G, 40G, 56G, Herb, ThiefKey, TinyMedal, Tomboy Book, Traveler Suit, WarpWing. South of Reeve, while leaving the town on your screen, you should see a small patch of grass to the east. Step on it, and you'll be taken to a hidden area. Go down the stairs here, and you'll be in a tunnel of some sort. Move south, and west, past a big locked door, until the path turns west and south. Move west first, to pillage the chest with 32G in it, then head back to the previous screen and go south. When you hit a big chamber, you'll want to go to the west, and down the stairs here. Going east just leads us to a staircase and a door we can't open yet, so don't go there. This's the Promontry Cave! On this floor, you want to move west, and take the detour north to get a chest with 56G in it. Go back south, then west, to get the chest with the Traveler Suit inside. Free armor's always fun! Now, continue west, and move south as the path leads that way, before going to the southeast and onto the next screen to get an Herb. Return to the previous room, and move to the southwest instead, moving around the bend and up these stairs. Then just move up the next set of stairs, and we're back on the World Map! ^^ This's a good way to get out of the cave, if you need to beat a retreat, or just want to be out and about on the surface. The real dungeon is back inside the Cave, in that big chamber from two paragraphs ago. Make your way back there, and go south, to go up those stairs. We're now in Najimi Tower! ^^ Head straight north from the enterance, until you walk into a statue. From here, move a bit north. You can go to the west or east here. The western chamber has a flight of stairs going down, to where an Inn is. You can rest for just 2G a person! ^^ Good deal. The eastern chamber is the one we want, though, so head in there, and go up the stairs. Now that we're here, move west, then take the next path north, to reach an intersection of sorts, with no actual northern route, but an east and west route. The west route has a chest with 40G, while the eastern route has a staircase. Going up the stairs, you'll get a chest with a TinyMedal! Wai! Now go back downstairs, and west, south, and east, to reach the main stairs. Journey south, makiung sure to avoid the edge of the tower, because you can fall off it! Follow the path west when it leads that way, and take the second path north when you can. Go up the stairs here to reach the next floor. On this floor, head a bit west, then straight north as far as you can. When you hit the northern wall, start heading east, and note the first southern passage you come to, but don't go there yet! Instead, move further east, and go in this southern passage, to get a chest with a WarpWing. Now you can go back to that other southern passage, to the west of where we are. There're stairs there we'll want to take up, to reach a cozy little room on the top of the Tower. Talk to the man here, and say yes when he offers you a ThiefKey. Congrats, you have one of the game's three keys! ^^ He'll also explain personality-altering books to you, which he does for a reason; there's a Tomboy Book on the left bookcase behind him, that we can help ourselves to. Now, exit out the big door to the south of this room, and hop off the edge of the Tower. We can use that WarpWing to get us back to Aliahan, where we have some new doors to try out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2D1. A Thief's Night Out ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: AGLseed, Antidote, INTseed, MagicBomb, TinyMedal, Wooden Hat. We're going to explore all the locked doors, and pillage them for useful items and information. ^^ Let's start at Aliahan Castle! From the main staircase, if we move west and south, we can get into a room and chat with a person with asperations of being a scholar. While he failed, he does tell us that Smart Books make people smarter. This's kinda obvious, though. If you remember where the Princess was, then to the west of her, we can find a door to unlock. The person here'll tell us that we can get a Magic Bomb in Reeve. Don't forget to get the TinyMedal from their dresser, too! If we head back to Reeve, we'll hear about a spring past some mountains to the east, that many adventurers've used to journey to other lands. That must be where the Traveler's Gate is! If we go now to the house by the village's Temple, we'll see a big pot boiling over a fire. Inspect the rightmost vase in this room for a INTseed, then go upstairs to talk to the man who lives here. Tell him the truth, and that you came in with the ThiefKey, and you'll get the MagicBomb! We can get into the sealed Traveler's Gate now. Don't forget to help yourself to the free Antidote in his dresser! Don't forget the tunnel that lead us to Najimi Tower! ^^ Head south of Reeve, and into the tunnel, opening the door we come to quickly for two chests, a Wooden Hat, and an AGLseed. Now, go buy yourself some better equipment, and make sure you're healed up and saved, before we investigate the Traveler's Gate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2E1. To Tempt Cave and Other Lands ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Antidote, Knife, Magic Map, TinyMedal, WarpWing. Start heading east of Reeve, until we come to an area of brown hills. The enemies are slightly different here, but they shouldn't be a challenge for you. Start to move south, and through a narrow gap in the grey mountains, before going east to the Reeve Shrine. Inside, the man who lives there will tell us that our MagicBomb will definitely let us into the sealed Traveler's Gate, and that the cave's location is by a spring. Perhaps it's the spring to the north of where we are now? You can get a WarpWing and a TinyMedal from the pots in this room, as well as read his bookcase for information on whips and boomerangs. It's not a physical item, so try to remember what it says. ^^ Head to the forest north of this house, and you'll enter another area, with a lake in the middle. Walk around to the northern side, to find a staircase. This must be the enterance, so head in! Move west, and the man will confirm that this is indeed Tempt Cave. Walk over to the southern wall, and use the MagicBomb, to take the wall down. Now go south, and take the Magic Map from the chest, before moving downstairs! This area's large, and has lots of pitfalls. Head north two intersections, first, before you'll see the northern passage shift a bit to the west. Continue up here, careful not to fall in the pit, and move to take the eastern passage. Follow this path as it heads north, and onto another screen, still following it west and into the next room. Head all the way north here, and then move west for a chest with an Antidote. Now go east, and keep going until you hit a wall, before going south to the next screen and following a long tunnel. When you can, move west, and move onto the next screen. Now start heading north, and take the first passage west. You can get a chest with a Knife here, before going back to the previous screen and going north. When you reach the pit, move west to avoid it, and follow the path around to reach a set of stairs. Just start to go west of here, and head south, to open a Thief Door and find a swirly circular portal. That's the Traveler's Gate! When you step on it, you'll arrive at the Allure Cave. A staircase up to the surface later, you'll be on a new continent, and you can see a castle nearby. That's Romaly Castle! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2F1. Castles, Shrines and Villages ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Antidote, Boxer Shorts, Cheat Book, Club, Fur Hat, Leather Hat, LifeAcorn, MoonHerb, Poison Knife, Smart Book, TinyMedal x 4, Token x 4, Toughness Rock. Romaly's big! To the west as we enter, we can find the Weapon and Item Shop. There's some good stuff here, so you might want to get better-equipped. A new continent means new monsters! Down the stairs here, you can find the Stadium, where you can bet on monster-battles. Remember, the lower the number next to the monster, the better the chances they have of winning, but the smaller the payout. East of the shops, we find the Inn, for all our post-dungeon healing. You can get a MoonHerb from the dresser down here, and an Antidote from the upstairs dresser. North of the Inn, you can find the Temple. You can nab a Smart Book from one of its three bookcases, and a Toughness Rock. North of the house, you'll find a dog. Search the spot he's standing on now, when it's night time, to get a Token! West of here, past the pond, is a normal house, with a shiny TinyMedal in one of its vases, and a not-so-shiny Leather Hat in the dresser. Now just move a bit back east to the pond, and head north to reach Romaly Castle. Before going in, move over to the east, and stand east of the torch. Search the ground for another TinyMedal! Keep going north, and up the stairs here, to speak to the King. Kandar has stolen the King's Crown, and he'll only believe we're a Hero if we reclaim it for him. Of course we'll do this, that's what being a Hero is all about! ^^ Now, back downstairs, head east, and north, to reach a set of stairs. Two more flights up, make sure to nab the Cheat Book from the bookshelf, and the Token from the dresser. Now go back down the stairs, and check out the courtyard. Examine the one to the southeast, checking the corner bush for a TinyMedal. There's not much else in Romaly Castle that we can do right now, so you can head outside. ^^ Start moving north, and pass through the western mountains to enter the Romaly Gate, which leads to Portoga. We can't get far, though, as we need a MagicKey to get through the Gate. Leave, and continue north, to find another little shrine. This's a place to play Pachisi. Dodge the falling body in the hall, and check out the raised podium in the northeast corner for a Token. Then head upstairs for a game! ^^ You don't need to play, but you can get here now if you ever want to. Futher north of the Pachisi Shrine, through the mountain pass, you'll find the village of Kazave! North of the enterance is the Temple, and to the south is the Weapon Shop. Make sure to check the rightmost tombstone to get a TinyMedal! East of the shop's the Inn! Get the Token from the rightmost dresser, and check out the Item Shop to the north of that. There's supposed to be Poison Daggers for sale here, but there isn't any. Just return later at night, and pilfer a pair of Boxer Shorts from his dresser, as well as a Poison Dagger and a Club from the chests in his shop. North of here again, we'll find a tavern of some sort, and hear gossip about a village of slumbering people. If you go outside and behind the tavern, though, you'll find the back stairs, and be able to nab a Fur Hat and a LifeAcorn from the dressers and barrels here. Where to now? Well, Noaniels is another town further north, who might know about the sleeping village we heard about. And there is a secret, but hard, area east where you can get some serious leveling done... But, Shampane Tower is to the west, where Kandar took the King's Crown. We should try the King's quest first! ^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2G1. King For a Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 430G, Bronze Shield, Crown. Travel west of Kazave, going through the mountains, and move south until you find a western bridge. Cross over it, and continue to the southwest, where you should see a tower amid the grassy plains. This is the Shampane Tower, where Kandar is! Start going north, following the path as it curves west and south again. You'll be able to move to the west, or further south. Don't go south yet; instead, go west and follow the path counter-clockwise, to reach a chest with 430G! Now go back west and north, before moving east, returning to the spot we were at before. Simply go south from here, and you'll find a staircase leading up to the second floor. Now, we'll want to move west, and onto the next screen. The edges of the tower, much like at Najimi Tower, are quick shortcuts to the ground if you need to use them, but if not, head north, following the northern edge east until you find a passage leading south. Take it, and in the southeast of this room, we'll find a staircase going up. After doing that, move east and north, dodging the edge again, to take a western passage into a room to get a Bronze Shield. Now go back to the stairs, and head west, all the way to the western edge, before following it north and a bit east. You'll reach what looks like a deadend, but just go east into the wall, and you'll find a room with a staircase leading up. Now that we're at the fourth floor, move south, then east to a big Thief Door, which's appropriate for a den of thieves. Open it with your ThiefKey, and enter, moving north to a staircase. Go up the stairs to find some thieves! They'll run upstairs to tell their boss about you, so quickly follow them. Rather than the fight you might've expected, your entire party will tumble down a pit! Don't let this stop you, go back upstairs, and jump off the northern edge of the tower. You'll land with Kandar and his thieves in clear sight! Heal up, then bump into the thieves, to get into a fight! Kandar is accompanied by three Goons. The four of them together can deal out some strong damage, so you will want to focus on one Goon at a time, and take them out. Once they're gone, focus on Kandar. He's got more HP than his followers, but he'll eventually lose. Just make sure to keep your troops healed up! After the fight, Kandar will beg you to spare his life. You don't have a choice, unfortunately; say yes, and he'll leave the Crown behind, before escaping. Let's bring this back to the King of Romaly! Once there, the King will offer you his throne! We can't spend time being King, when we have a Demon Lord to defeat! But should we accept? You can refuse the King, and repeatedly say no, and eventually he will give up. But that isn't as fun as ruling Romaly, right? Let's give it a try! Now that you're King, or Queen if the savior of the world happens to be female, you have a lot of nothing to do. Your job is to basically sit in the throneroom and wait for adventurers to wander in and ask you what their EXP to reach the next level is. As you and your group were the only actual group journeying to defeat the Demon Lord Baramos, your job is boring indeed. You don't even have your stats anymore, all you can look back on is your memories... This actually isn't much fun at all! ^^; No wonder there aren't hundreds of Kings, the class has terrible penalties. Queens, it seem, are better than Kings, as they can do some special events! Visit the Inn, and tell them that you aren't out for a walk, but that you plan on spending the night there. The Innkeeper will set up some flowers, and after your stay, he'll put up a sign to brag about your patronage. ^^ If you return to the house west of the central pond of Romaly, the house you found a TinyMedal in, and talk to the woman there, she'll ask you to remind the man who is incharge of the gardens in Romaly Castle to stop slacking off. While neither of these events seem to make any difference to the game, why not try them if you can? When you're ready to toss in the Crown, go find the old King. He gave his Crown away, so what says we can't return it? You are the King now, afterall. Speak to him, and tell him honestly that you're tired of being King, so you're back to normal. Think of it this way; in that brief amount of time, you still out-did the old King. ^^ Besides, you can come back and resume your throne whenever you wish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2H1. Sleepy Dusty Eloping People ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 224G, 288G, AGLseed, DreamRuby, Kilt, Leather Dress, MoonHerb, Repellent, Rosary Necklace, Spear, STRseed, TinyMedal x 2, Token x 2, Tragic Book, Wake Dust. Yes, the name of this section says it all. ^^; Now, let's check out this sleeping village, and Noaniels. Head north of Kazave, then to the northwest, and very shortly we'll come to another village. What's going on here? Everyone seems like they really are asleep. Let's explore, and see if there're any people here who've not overdosed on sleeping pills. We'll start in the southwest, where you can get an AGLseed from a vase. Upstairs, we'll find someone who's awake! He says the elves of Elvenham need the Dream Ruby, or they will not lift this sleeping curse. Don't forget to get a Tragic Book from the bookcase on the right! To the northeast is a currently-useless Inn, with some stairs to their upper floor. You can get a Kilt and a MoonHerb from looking through the dressers here. Back outside, check out the building to the northeast, by walking into the western wall. You can get a STRseed from the vase in here. Go back to the little stone L next to the Inn, and check in the corner for a Token. Now it's time to find this Elvenham, and get more information about the Dream Ruby. Leave the village, and start walking west, all the way to the coastline. You should see a cave around you, and a small clearing in the forest north of it. Wander onto that clearing, and sure enough, you've found Elvenham! Elves dislike Return spells, it seems, since the closest Return spot is Noaniels. It's not a long walk, thankfully. ^^; Much of Elvenham is filled with trees, but you can maneuver through them in the proper spots. Also, elves dislike humans, and are not allowed to talk to them, so you won't learn too much from them. You'll come to a small pond, though, and see an old man, who's more than happy to talk to you. You'll learn that his son eloped with Ann, the Princess of the Elves. The elves've disliked humans ever since, which the Queen of the Elves will go into more detail about when you talk to her. The eloped couple took the Dream Ruby with them, and ran away. The only real place we have to look in, is the cave directly south of Elvenham, Noaniels Cave. Maybe the Dream Ruby's in there? Make sure to check the niche in the wall west of the Queen's throne, for a TinyMedal. Enter the Cave, and start going south. Take this first path west, for a quick detour and chest, for 288G. Get back to the main path, and continue all the way south, then head east. Take the path to the north for a chest with Repellent, then go back to the last screen. Follow the path south, until you can go west to another screen, and do so. Go along this tunnel, and at the end, you'll see two staircases, one on the right, and one on the left. Take the one on the right, going down another flight, then opening the chest in this room for a TinyMedal. Go back upstairs two floors, and take the western stairs this time. You'll see some odd tiles in the middle of the floor. If you stand on the one that looks like a target, then you'll get all your HP and MP refilled. You can do this repeatedly, so you might even want it as a leveling-up spot. When you choose to move on, head off the screen to the west, then off the screen to the north. You'll be in a big room, with a path west and one north. Go north for now, then head west when you hit the wall, for a chest with a Spear. The eastern room has a STRseed. After getting these, go back to the big room, and head west. Move south to the next screen, and down these stairs. Travel north and west, until we hit some stairs. Don't go down them, but go south, entering the eastern room for a chest with a Rosary Necklace. Go back to the stairs, but move west instead of going down them, heading all the way south and east to get a Token. Now, go back north, and take the path west, then south, to get a chest with 224G. Go back north, then go east two screens, to get a Leather Dress, and find the stairs leading to the fourth floor basement of the Noaniels Cave. Down here, follow the path north and east, and you'll get the DreamRuby from the chest. You'll also find a note from Ann, asking her mother to forgive them. They've decided dying together is better than living apart... With the DreamRuby and this terrible news in hand, return to Elvenham, and talk to the Queen of the Elves. She'll realize that her daughter would want her beloved's town to wake up, and she'll give you the Wake Dust. She still doesn't like humans, though. Don't forget to tell the old man what happened, too, and return to Noaniels. Use the Wake Dust, and the entire village'll return to awakeness! Wai! ^^ Now we can explore it for real. Most of the people're still sleepy, and a few even ask if you tried anything when they were asleep. Upstairs at the Inn, though, it's a different story. Ortega was just here yesterday! ^^ But these people've been sleeping for a long time now, so their yesterday isn't the same as ours. However, they do say he headed for Ashalam, to find a Magic Key. Ashalam's east of Romaly. Looks like that's our next destination! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2I1. Belly Dancing and Deserts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: AGLseed, Boxer Shorts, Brave Book, BugPowder, Club, Defy Book, Smart Book, Starry Bracelet, Token x 4, TinyMedal x 3, Tomboy Book, Training Suit. Return to Romaly, and start to travel north. When the coast heads east, you should do the same, following it to reach a bridge. Cross the bridge, then head south through the grass, continuing past a forest and some hills. When you find the hills to your west, go east instead, and you'll find a village in the grass. This's Ashalam! To the east as we enter, is the Inn, and you can get some BugPowder from the dresser here. Much of the town is only awake at night, and there're many doors we can't get in. You'll soon notice that there are several shops which don't list the item prices. These shops love ripping adventurers off! A Wizard Wand starts at 24000G alone, and we can get these from Noaniels for 1500G. The lowest you can go is double the normal price of the item, in the case of the Wizard Wand, 3000G. So just keep telling them no if you want those items, or just wait for a cheaper town. At night, the town's a bit more lively with bellydancers. One of the Weapon Shops is only open at night, as well, so you might want to pick up a few Iron Axes. The girl in the townsquare will offer to give you a powderpuff massage, but it's not exactly what it seems. Careful! ^^; This only happens to male characters, however. Her house, to her west, does have a Token in the dresser, though. We've heard about a place called Isis in the southwestern desert, and that Ortega went that way in search of a Magic Key at one time. We've also head about a local cave. To the northeast is the Norud Tunnel, so start walking. There're strangely no monsters inside of it, but there is a well. Check out the northeast corner for a LifeAcorn! The hobbit who lives upstairs in the tunnel, Norud, orders us to leave, but not before getting the Training Suit and Club from his room. There's nothing to do in here just yet, so we need to try something else. We definitely need a Magic Key to get to Portoga, so make sure your equipment is in order, and start walking west to the hills, then south through the forest. You'll find another Pachisi game here! ^^ If you go inside, and stand under the western pillar, then just move three steps west and one space north, and search for a TinyMedal. When you're done here, continue west of here, and cross through the big desert. You want to head towards the southwest corner, where you'll see an oasis. Walk onto the trees around the southern part of the oasis, and you'll see a town and castle! This's Isis. Entering the town, you'll see the graves of the departed, and hear about the Pyramid north of here. Make sure to examine the center grave for a TinyMedal! North of where we're standing, though, is a Stadium to bet on monster-battles. Further north is a house you can enter, to get a pair of Boxer Shorts from the upstairs dresser. Directly east of here is the center of town, with a well we can go down. Someone left a Brave Book down here, just for you! Make sure to get an AGLseed right outside the well, if you face it from the west. There's a Weapon Shop in the southeast corner of Isis, and there's a vase here with a TinyMedal, too. If you come back at night, you can go inside the house that Sokras is blocking, to find a Token in the hanging sack on the wall, and a Smart Book upstairs on the bookcase. Enter Isis Castle, and head west, to find a gap in the wall. Move north, and down the stairs here, before going east and north when you can. You'll find a chest with a Starry Bracelet inside. When you take it, a spirit will appear. Answer him truthfully, and he'll let you keep it. ^^ What a nice guy! Go back outside, and go north to the castle doors, to get inside. Move east of the stairs, and raid the north and south rooms for a Token and a Defy Book. Then go up the stairs. Speak to the Queen to save your game, then chat with the people on this floor. One child will tell you something interesting, that people think is the key to the Pyramid: west of east, east of west, west of west, east of east. It's pretty obvious where our next destination is now: the Pyramid. But what about the Magic Key? If you follow the mountains east, from Isis, you'll see a swamp. Go inside the swamp, to see the Desert Cave. Inside, the old man will tell you how the Magic Key is in the Pyramid. It wasn't coincidence at all! ^^ Make sure to collect the Token, TinyMedal, and Tomboy Book in here, then start walking north to the Pyramid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2J1. Buried Keys ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 56G, 80G, 112G, 176G, 304G, AGLseed, Flashy Suit, Golden Claw, INTseed, MagicKey, Ruby Ring, Skirt, StoneWig, STRseed, TinyMedal x3, VITseed, WarpWing. Head straight up the stairs, as you near the intersection. Don't stand in the middle of the intersection! Stay to the sides, or you'll fall down into the basement, and have to find the stairs back out. Take the path east, and open the chest to get... nothing! Many thieves have been through here before, and have pillaged items from some of the chests. However, since they still count for things like Smell spells, we're going to open them all. ^^; Go back to the intersection, and go west, to open a similar chest. Back at the intersection, go north, then west, to open the top empty chest. The middle and bottom chest contain a Cannibox! These guys can hit hard, and take you out if you're not prepared, but they shouldn't last more than a round if you're expecting them. Head back to the last intersection, watching the middle as you go east, and head north, east, north, and west to a staircase. Take the tunnel west, going south at the first intersection. Move as far west as you can, then head all the way south, for a chest with an INTseed. Then go all the way north, and east to a staircase going down. You'll see two chests here. The one to the east is empty, and the one to the west is a Cannibox. Follow the tunnel west, and open this chest for a TinyMedal! I know I'm glad that TinyMedals don't come alive. Go back upstairs, head west, then south. At the first intersection, move east, then all the way south, before going east again. Here're some stairs going up! Now, this floor has a stone door blocking our way in the middle. Head west, and check out the two little niches in the wall. We'll number the one all the way to the left, 1. The one on the right is 2. Now, go to the east of the stairs, and you'll see another group of niches. The one on the left here is 3, and the one on the right is 4. Now, step into the niches and press the buttons in this order: 3, 2, 1, 4. The screen will shake! Go back to the stairs, and head north, to get the chests with the VITseed and MagicKey! We got it! ^^ Back at the stairs, head west, north, west, and north again, before moving west and north once more. Take these stairs north, and head east. We can open this door! Head south, into this big room, to find a treasure horde! These chests are cursed, however; every one you open, will force a fight with four MummyMen. Here's the chest-contents, from the upper left to the lower right: 176G, WarpWing, STRseed, 80G, StoneWig, AGLseed, TinyMedal, 112G, 56G, Ruby Ring, 304G, Skirt. That's a lot of stuff! Head south and up the stairs here, then go north for another chest with a Flashy Suit. I don't know about you, but I'm appreciating that Bag a lot more after getting all this. ^^; Head up the eastern stairs, and move to the west carefully, heading up in the corner of the pyramid and searching the ground for another TinyMedal. After you get this, jump off the northern edge. We're out and free! Now, return to Isis, to heal up and save. We've actually not cleared out the entire Pyramid, there's a floor we haven't gone to yet. Run right up the stairs, and fall down the pitfall that's there. Head west a room, then go north a room, and look at the two skulls that're near the middle of the floor. Stand on the right skull, move down two spaces, and search. There you go, hidden stairs! ^^ Remember, magic won't work down here in the basement, so tread carefully down the stairs. Open the Magic Door, and head south, east, and north, to see an old casket. Examine it, and open it, to get the Golden Claw. An eerie voice'll curse you! This will make it so that every two steps, you'll be in a fight. This will get very annoying very quickly, especially when you remember that your nifty Outside spell doesn't work here. Eventually, you'll make your way back up the stairs, and back south. Then just take the western path out of the basement, and out of the Pyramid. Finally! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2K1. Magic Chest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 72G, 80G, 128G, 336G, AGLseed, Hero Ring, INTseed, Joke Book, LifeAcorn, Lune Wand, Ruby Ring, Silk Dress, STRseed, Tiara, TinyMedal x 3, Wizard Ring. This section is just a quick reminder one, so we can go back and check out the Magic Doors we've missed. Many will give you information, but I've mentioned the ones that tell about treasures, since we all know those're the most fun. ^^ In Aliahan Castle, open the Magic Door on the first floor for six chests, with 128G, 336G, a Hero Ring, an AGLseed, a STRseed, and a Lune Wand. That Hero Ring will give you the Valiant Personality when it's worn, but I still prefer the Starry Bracelet. Now, head back inside Romaly Castle. Open the Magic Door on the main floor, which's found inbetween the two staircases to the north. Check the second bush from the east, and you'll get a TinyMedal. Back at Ashalam, open the Magic Door to the northwest of the city, and go upstairs. We can get a Joke Book from the bookcase here, and check the northeastern diamond tile for a TinyMedal. Return to Isis, and head inside the Castle. North of the stairs, you'll find three Magic Doors. Two contain treasure rooms, but we're not allowed into them, since they belong to the Queen. The guards aren't around at night, though, so come back then, to get a Silk Dress, 72G, a Ruby Ring, an INTseed, a Tiara, a LifeAcorn, a TinyMedal, and 80G. Great! Go upstairs, and open the Magic Door here to go inside the Queen's room. If it's nighttime, she'll be here, and she'll give you a present if you talk to her. Search north of her bed for a Wizard Ring! Now that we've gotten everything we can, head back to the Romaly Shrine, and open the Magic Door here. Head downstairs, and head west, going past the door we can't open. Guess the MagicKey wasn't the best key out there! ^^; Go up the stairs to the west, and exit the Shrine to the west. We're across the mountains! ^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2L1. Pepper Tales and Ship Sails ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 132G, 352G, Letter, LUCKseed, Mist Wand, MysticNut, Pepper, STRseed, Tattoo, TinyMedal x 4, Token x 3, Tragic Book, Traveler Suit, VITseed x 2. Cross the western bridge, and head straight south. After a short while, you should see a castle. This's Portoga! As soon as you enter, head north for the building here, which has an Inn, Weapon, and Item Shop. Raid the dresser for a Token, and don't forget to check two spaces north of the horse in his stable, to get a TinyMedal! Go north of the stable, and circle around the back of the castle, moving west and south to a staircase on the water, you can find a room with a TinyMedal in a vase, and a Tragic Book on the eastern bookcase. If you go upstairs in the house to the west of the Weapon Shop, you'll get a STRseed from the western hanging sack. After talking to the citizens in town, you'll hear about the King having a love of Pepper, but it's very rare. You'll also hear that if you ask the King for a ship, you might be able to get one. Then we can search for the Demon Lord Baramos in earnest! Enter the Castle, and go say hi to the King. He'll tell us that in exchange for some Pepper, we can get a ship! That's great! He'll also give us a Letter to bring back to Norud, who'll show us where to go. First, go get the chests in the middle of the castle, and get a Tattoo, VITseed, and Mist Wand. Then just use Return to get to Ashalam, and head northeast to the Norud Tunnel. Face Norud, and use the Letter, to make him open the pass for us! Wai! Through the tunnel, and up the stairs, we'll emerge on the other side of the mountains. Start south, through the hills and mountains. It'll be a long trek, but it shouldn't be a hard one. There're some decent new monsters to beat up! ^^ You'll eventually reach a village by the southern coast. This's Baharata! You'll find that the local Pepper shop is closed, because the shop owner's daughter has been kidnapped. Upstairs here, you can nab a Traveler Suit from the dresser. South of the Inn, which has a TinyMedal inside by the way, you'll find an old man. He mentions that the kidnappers escaped to a bridge on the other side of the mountains. Now we know where to go, to rescue the shop keeper's daughter! ^^ Nab the Token from his dresser, and head to the southern part of the village, and talk to the old man. Tania is the name of the kidnapped girl, and Gupta is the one who abruptly rushes off to rescue her. Now we need to help Gupta too! When you're set, head out of the village. You'll want to travel east across the bridge, and north, before moving west over a second bridge. You'll see a cave here, the Baharata Cave. Could this be where the kidnappers are? Well, yeah, of course it is. >"< Head inside, and west, to reach a four-way intersection. This entire floor is one big maze of identical-looking rooms, with little variation. But that's why you're reading this walkthrough, right? ^^ Head north a room, then north again through the locked door. You'll find two chests, but the one to the north is a Cannibox. The one to the east is 352G. Go west a room now, and nab the TinyMedal here. Move west again, and you'll see two more chests. The western one is another Cannibox, but the northern one has 132G. Now, move south five rooms, before going west for a room with a VITseed. Now just move three more rooms to the east, and you'll find a staircase going down. You should take it down, that's why it's there. You'll want to go all the way to the west, and open the Magic Door here for a treasure room of seeds! There's a STRseed, a LifeAcorn, an INTseed, and an AGLseed. Great! ^^ Now go back to that path south, and open the Magic Door at the end. What's this? It looks like a thieves' den. It turns out it IS a thieves' den, and familiar ones at that. For all of those who are stuck here, that means you've not talked to Gupta and Tania's Grandfather in Baharata, or that you've not beaten Kandar in the Shampane Tower. Make sure to do both, then talk to the thieves. Reject their offer to join, and you'll have to fight off four Goons. After winning, nab a Token from the hanging sack to the west, then continue south. On the western wall, there's a lever to open up the jail cells, to free Tania and Gupta, who was also captured by the thieves. Don't forget to check the northeastern corner of Tania's cell for a MysticNut, and the northwestern corner of Gupta's cell for a LUCKseed. Follow the couple north, to see a familiar face. It's Kandar! He's returned and seen the jailbreak, so we'll have to thrash him again. He's only accompanied by two Goons this time, but he's a bit harder than last time too. He'll last maybe an extra round. ^^ You'll have a free path out of the cave, and Tania and Gupta will return to Baharata. That's where we should go too! If you go to the Pepper Shop, you'll find that Gupta now owns it. Thankful for rescuing him as well as Tania, he'll offer some free Pepper! I'm sure you know what to do with this now. ^^ Bring it to the King of Portoga, and he'll be true to his word. Step onto the ship, sail out of the town, and get ready to explore the rest of the world! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2M1. In Search of Sages ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 448G, INTseed, Silver Tiara, TinyMedal x 2, Zen Scroll. Now that you have a ship, the only thing holding you back from any and all exploration is just your own levels and party. There's the rest of the world to explore, after all, and there's no need to go to places in any real order. So, for the next few chapters, if you've already done something, or just want to go back to it later, go ahead! ^^ Some things need to be done in the right order, though, so keep that in mind. There are a few parts of the world we haven't mentioned in this guide, that we could. One is the famous Dharma Shrine! If you Return to Baharata, and head east over the bridge, you'll be in familiar territory. Go north, and rather than move west to the Baharata Cave, just keep moving north. You'll have to move west through some hills, then north, and you'll see a castle. This's actually the Dharma Shrine, so head on in! This place has several valuable services. The man right infront of the doors can save your game, just like any King can. If you follow the outside path west and north, you'll find a Cleric of Marinan. This's just a name-changing service! ^^ If you've found out that you dislike the names you had, or just need to change a few, then you can come here to get those names fixed. If you want to change them again later, come back here and go right ahead. ^^ Head up the stairs to the east, you can find a Temple, and a cheap Inn for recovering from monster-bashing. The main point of this Shrine is that you can change your classes, by going through the central door. When you change classes, half your stats go away, and your Level returns to 1. However, that should still make you tougher than the normal Level 1 character. Plus, you can retain spells you've learned from other classes. The only condition to this, is you need to be at Level 20 or higher in a class before you can change into another. The Shrine is also the only way to have a Sage in your party. Anyone who's brought a Jester here, who's at the Level 20 or higher mark, can get a Sage here just by asking the man on the raised platform. You don't have a Jester? You still want a Sage? Well, there's a way to do it. You'll just need a certain item to do this, the Zen Scroll. They are not common items, but there is one nearby that we can get. Let's go nab it! First, check the large statues here in the courtyard out. The northeastern statue has a TinyMedal on the eastern part of its base. Wander north through the hills above the Dharma Shrine, and you'll see a tower to your east. This tower is called Garuna Tower, and this's where we'll find ourselves a Zen Scroll. Now, as you enter, go west, and southwest of the diamond tiles, before moving west and south to a new screen. Nab the INTseed here, then go back north and all the way west. When you head north, you'll see stairs going up, to your west and your east. Take neither of them, and just continue going north, then east until you see a path heading north and out of the Tower. Go up there, then west. You'll see that there's an outside staircase here, that leads up. This's the one we want to take! Walk across the tightrope here. It's just like normal flooring, despite its appearance, so it'll support you. On the other side, go downstairs, and head into the Traveler's Gate back on Floor 1. You'll be inside a fourway intersection, with three staircases to choose from. Take the southern staircase first, then go up another floor, and open this chest for a welcomed TinyMedal. Back at the fourway intersection on the first floor, take the northern staircase. Go up another flight of stairs, and raid this chest for 448G. Now go to the eastern staircase, and upstairs here. Again, we'll be given a choice of stairs, as there's one set to the north, and one to the south. We want the stairs to the south, so head up them, and up the next flight of stairs. Upstairs, you'll find another staircase. ^^; This next floor has a tightrope, hurray! This's an important tightrope, so don't forget it just yet. For now though, just go all the way west across it, and we'll find... more staircases. x.x Take the staircase going up, and pocket the Silver Tiara, before going back down, and walking on the tightrope. You want to find the center of the tightrope, or at least somewhere nearby there. If you watch the rope, you'll see that in one part, it looks like it's a pixel or two off, and near the other side, they'll do the same. This marks off a few screens of tightrope, and any place you jump from here should be fine. When you land, you'll find a deserted floor with a large cracked pit in the middle. Jump down, and you'll be on the third floor, with a staircase over to the west. Head down, and open the chest here, to get the Zen Scroll! Congrats! ^^ Now anyone can turn into a Sage, once they hit Level 20. But the Book's good for one change only, so think carefully before using it. You can jump down the pit here to get back to the first floor, and walk out if you want, or just use Outside. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2N1. Descimated Villages, Earthy Navels ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 5G, 55G, Black Hat, Dark Lamp, Kilt, LifeAcorn, Ortega Helmet, Stick, TinyMedal x 4, Token x 2. There's one place we can still reach by land, before boat travel is a requirement, so why not visit there now? Head east of the Dharma Shrine, and curve south and around the mountains as needed. You should soon come to the Zipangu Shrine, where people will mention a beast named Orochi, who is terrorizing the citizens of Zipangu. Other than the Stick and TinyMedal to be found in drawers here, there's also an Inn to recover in. Now, follow the coastline, and head far to the north. Right before you hit a snowfield, you'll see a village, which is called Muor. What is there to do in Muor? Well, you can get a Kilt out of the dresser at the Inn. Really, there's more exciting things than that going on here. ^^; Some people think they've seen you before, and call you Pokapa. They even have a familiar helmet in the marketplace... why, that's your father's helmet! Go around to the back of that shop, and go up the stairs, to talk to the people here. You'll find that your father Ortega was definitely here before, and you can get a TinyMedal and a Token from the vases here. Also, when you leave, you can get the Ortega Helmet. Now where do we go? Well, we literally have an entire world left to check out. Return to Portoga, and start to sail south. You'll immediately see the Lighthouse here, and you'll learn the next half of your mission from the Lighthouse keeper: the recovery of six Orbs, that'll somehow allow us to not need the ship anymore. Let's follow his directions, and sail first for Tedanki. It's at the very southern edge of the continent, and a bit inland from there, so it might take a few minutes to sail there. Once you do show up, you'll find that the town is very odd. Not only do you not get it added to the Return list, but the village is in ruins, and it's liveliest at night. This's because the entire town was wiped out, and their spirits only appear during the night! You'll hear about Baramos's stronghold being nearby, in Gondo, and about finding information about a FinalKey in Lancel. East across a swamp in the town, you'll find a couple of vases, one with 55G in it. Downstairs, check the floor by the western bottom part of the coffin for a LifeAcorn. Back upstairs, don't forget to check the spot in the swamp four spaces west of the old man, if you start above him that is, for a TinyMedal. If you go to the Weapon Shop during the day, then you can go upstairs, raiding the dead owner's dresser for a Black Hat, and the chest in his room for the Dark Lamp! We need to get to Lancel now, which's to the southeast of Tedanki. An easier way to reach it, though, is to Return to Baharata, and start to sail south. After a while, you'll see an island to the west, head there, and land, continuing west to the town of Lancel. Lancel's a small town, but there's some important things here. For now, we can raid a house! Northwest of the inn, we can find a house with 5G in a vase, and a Token in the dresser. But the real draw for this village is the Navel of Earth, a place you can reach by going through the temple in this town. We can't get inside yet, because again our key just won't work on these types of doors. On the east side of the temple, however, we can nab a TinyMedal from the thin path leading north and ending at a wall. Plus, thanks to the helpful Slime on the opposite side of the temple, we know where to go next. Buy a couple of Hide Herbs, and get ready to sail to Edinbear. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2O1. Finally A Key ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 500G, Dagger, Dandy Suit, Dry Vase, Expel Shield, FinalKey, GreenOrb, Lady Book, Party Dress, STRseed, TinyMedal x 8. The easiest way to reach Edinbear, is actually Returning to Noaniels. Sail around to the west, and past Elvenham, before sailing southwest to the nearby islands. On the bigger one, you'll see a castle, which's Edinbear. Edinbear's a place of very snobby people, and much like a country club, this castle just doesn't want you to join. But, that's why we have those Hide Herbs from Lancel! ^^ Use one, and you can walk right past the guard, and into the castle. Once inside, you don't need to worry about being invisible. Take the second room to the west that you come to, and you'll head downstairs. This room is a puzzle, with three boulders that you'll have to push around, and onto the three diamond tiles to the north. If you label the boulders from west to east, A, B, and C, then this's the way you want to push them around: push boulder A one space north, then two spaces east. Push boulder B a space east, then push boulder A all the way north onto the tiles. Go around and push boulder C a space south, then push boulder B three spaces west, so it's touching the water. Now move boulder B a space north, and two spaces east. Push boulder B north three spaces, then one space east, then north again, so it stays on the tile. One more left! Push boulder C one space north, four spaces west, one space north, two east, and three north. Now, just push it a space west, and one space north, and you're done! Continue north to the next room, then open the chest for the Dry Vase. Back upstairs, if you check out the northeast room, you'll find it's the King's and Princess's room. You'll also find a Lady Book, Dandy Suit, and Party Dress in here! ^^ If you go upstairs to the King's throneroom, he'll demonstrate his modesty, and save your game like normal kings. He'll even allow you to keep the 'useless' vase. Head south, and out the southern door, then take the eastern stairs down. Head out the door here, and head seven steps to the west of the orange-colored person who mentions the boulder puzzle, then one step south, to nab a TinyMedal! Retrace your steps back upstairs, to the King's throneroom, and back down the main stairs, then take this southern door to the western courtyard. Search the east center part of the flower patch here, and you'll get a second TinyMedal! Where to now? We need to find this sunken shrine. Return to Aliahan, and move west a bit to line yourself up with the Promontry Cave, then start sailing south. How far south? Almost an entire day south. ^^; You'll see seven reefs, or shoals, sticking out of the water as you move south. Go to the southern center one, and face it, then use the Dry Vase. An island'll appear, with a Shrine on it! Enter the Shoal Shrine, and open the chest at its center, to obtain the FinalKey! Wai!! ^^ Move north and check the northern-most of the dot-like tiles for a TinyMedal, then open the Final Door to the north, and speak to the spirit here. You'll hear more of the Giana Pit, the source of the evils that have befallen this world. When you're set, exit the Shoal Shrine, return to your ship, and watch as the Shrine returns itself to the bottom of the ocean. What do we do now? Well, it'd be best to make sure we've opened all the doors we could have so far, and that we've gotten any items inside them that we might've previously missed. In Aliahan Castle, if you go to the jail and start opening the doors, you can get a STRseed from a vase, and 500G from another one. Romaly Caslte has two Final Doors to open. One's in the basement, and you can get a Dagger and an Expel Shield from the chests behind the door. The other is up on the fourth floor of the western tower. Check infront of the sink, and you'll get a TinyMedal! We want to return to the Romaly Gate now. For all of you just tuning in, and not reading the area of the guide that mentions the Romaly Gate, this's the shrine north of Romaly, which you go in to get to Portoga for the first time. Once you get to the Romaly Gate, and go down the stairs, you'll find a Final Door. Check the floor by the water in the northwest corner for a TinyMedal, then enter the Gate here. This's the Greenlad Stupa, a sort of nexus for several of the Traveler's Gates in this game. There's also a TinyMedal on the diamond tiles north of the pool in the Stupa's center. If you check out the northern Gate, you'll arrive at Olivia Cape. First, check the ground two spaces north, and one space west when you appear, for yet another TinyMedal. Then check the Cape out, where you'll hear the tragic tale of Olivia and Eric. Maybe we can find a way to help them sometime? Note the other Gate here, but don't take it just yet. The eastern Gate at Greenlad Stupa leads to the exact same place, so don't worry about that yet either. Make a quick detour back to Muor, and open the Final Door here, then check the northeast corner of the grass for a TinyMedal. Our next stop's Tedanki, so sail back there, making sure it's night before entering. Open up the jail here, and talk to the prisoner, to be awarded the GreenOrb! He'll tell you how to get to Leiamland, which's to the south, and that this is where all the Orbs should be taken once you get them. This's a great find! Now there's five Orbs left to get. Where should we try to look for them next? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2P1. The World Tree, Newburg, and Soo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: AGLseed, Bolt Wand, Bunny Tiara, Garter, GoldBeak, TinyMedal x 4, Token x 3, WorldLeaf, YellowOrb. We want to sail back to Muor (it's too bad Return won't work) to get this section started. Sail north and west around the ice, then follow the forested coast north. you should see a spot where the coast indents itself, ending at a region two spaces long, before stretching back out. Get off of your boat here, and move west. You should see a lone grey mountain near the bottom of this screen! This's what we want to find right now. There're three other mountains like this in the forest here, and where the four of them cross, is something special. Stand against the west side of this mountain, and move nine spaces to the west. This doesn't seem special, but search the tree here, and you'll get the WorldLeaf! This's a rare item used to revive the dead. Whenever it's used up, you can return here to get one more! ^^ Now make it back to your boat, and continue following the coast northward. You should come to a region of ice, with a shrine at the end. This's the Hobbit Shrine, and the nameless Hobbit who lives here remarks that he journeyed with Ortega at one time. Ortega supposedly died by falling into a volcano, but this Hobbit doesn't think he could've lost that easily. Make sure to search above his throne for a TinyMedal! Now that we've gotten this, why don't we try to start up our own town? Yes, really! Return to Edinbear, and start sailing west. When you see land, sail south, and follow the eastern coastline. You'll see a forest eventually, with a clearing in the center. This's the spot we want! The man here believes that a Dealer will help the town prosper. What you need to do, is bring a Dealer, either one from your current party, or a brand-new one from the Tavern in Aliahan, to here. I recommend a new Dealer, though. Whatever you name them'll be the name of the village! I used New as the name of my Dealer, for this guide. It is a new town, afterall. ^^ Now, the Dealer does not leave permanently, but they will be gone a LONG time, so make sure they're not a vital partymember right at the moment. When you're ready to have the Dealer leave your party, return here, and hand them over. They'll stay here and help the town prosper, but it'll take some time... The best strategy, is to go off and beat up monsters, or continue in the game, and just check back here every so often. I'm going to cover everything with the new town right in this section, so if things aren't happening yet, just come back later. ^^ It's a gradual process, and you might as well do something during that time. Let's check out Soo while we're here and waiting, then! Sail south of your village, following the coast and rocky mountains, before going west and up the river. Sail north, and travel west and north, then continue northeast and a bit north, before going straight west and landing. This's Soo! Luckily, we can just Return here, so we'll never have to do that again. ^^ This town's rather small and quaint, and you'll notice that people here have the same odd accent that the man in your new town has. They must think our silent accent's odd too, though! ^^ If you go in the house that's northeast of the enterance, you can get an AGLseed. Straight north of here, you'll find Mr. Edo, who's a rather unusual horse: he can talk! He'll tell us about where to use the Dry Vase, but we already know that, don't we? If you go in the house to the west of him, you'll find a vase with a TinyMedal. The well south of this house has two items hidden by it, if you examine the space north and south of the well. The northern item is a TinyMedal, while the southern one is a Bolt Wand. Don't forget to check the well itself, and the dresser down there, for a Token. Let's go back to our town! At first, when you return, all you'll see is your Dealer with their own little shop, with a meager item or two for sale. But later, the town will grow larger, with the Item Shop gaining two new items, and an Inn having been constructed. You'll find your Dealer is now working on constructing a theater, and that you can get a Token from the three bushes southwest of the Inn, if you check the center bush. The town's already turning profitible! At this point, the town's growth slows down, and seems to pick up again after you've completed the events in Samanao, which're covered in a later section. Upon your return, you'll see that the town's grown, and that there's even a theater, as well as some shops and places. The Inn's more expensive, and you can get a Token from the dresser there. Inside the theater, you can get a Garter, and a Bunny Tiara. When you try to leave, they'll slap you with a 50000G bill! Tell her no, and she'll let you by, since you're the friend of the town's one-time Dealer and now Mayor. Speaking of the Mayor, some townspeople think that the Mayor's pushing things too hard. If you go to see the Mayor, you can get a GoldBeak and TinyMedal from the chests here, and learn that their plans're indeed grand. What'll the people think, though? If you go in at night, you'll see the man from Soo's outside the Mayor's house, trying to get in to talk to the Mayor, and tell them what the people're thinking. This doesn't bode well... the town already has a jail cell ready! Will your former comrade, the Mayor, decide that they should reign it in a bit, and let the people celebrate what they've already earned? If you talk to the people south of the jail, you'll notice that they're ready to revolt, even if it turns violent. They'd rather not, but if the Mayor isn't going to listen diplomatically, they're not sure what else to do. If you leave, and return, you'll find soldiers around the town. The Mayor's been overthrown, and things've changed across town! You'll also hear the Mayor managed to spend lots of money on a YellowOrb before they got arrested. Could it still be here? Visit your friend in the jail, and you'll find that they left something for us behind their chair in their house. If you try to open the lock on the cell, they'll remain inside, confident that in time, they can attone for their mistakes. Sure enough, behind their chair, you'll find the YellowOrb! Will the people forgive your Dealer? We'll only learn that in time, so we might as well leave the town behind, and continue on our mission to defeat the Demon Lord Baramos. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2Q1. The Earth's Bellybutton ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 248G, Blue Orb, INTseed, Terra Armor, TinyMedal x 3. Return to Lancel, and head to the temple that leads to the Navel of Earth. Open the doors with the FinalKey, and talk to the head priest. This area is one where you'll have to be on your own, with none of your teammates accompanying you. You should have good equipment, preferibly one that can hit multiple targets, as well as full HP and MP before you accept. When you're ready, say yes, and follow the priest up, making a quick detour to the east for a chest with a TinyMedal, then running west out of the temple. You'll see the cave enterance, and you should go on in. Head south and through the door, to be in a room with looping areas to the right and left. Go south instead, to reach a place with a lot of pillars, and five tunnels leading out of the room. Try the northeast room first, and open this chest for a TinyMedal. The northwest room has a chest with 248G in it. Now, try out the southeastern room, which also has a chest in it. There's an INTseed in here. ^^ Now, be careful, the southwest room's chest is a Mimic, which's a stronger version of a Cannibox, plus they have several magical spells, including Beat. You might want to use Ironize, to make the chest lose all its MP from uneffective spells, before starting the fight. Or just avoiding it entirely! ^^; Head south into the next room, and go east of the skull statue, until you reach some stairs. Go down them, and you'll end up in a large room. It's meant to disorientate you, but don't let it! Move a bit north, then east, and you'll spot another staircase going up. Take them, then move west, south, and east again, to reach another room with some Terra Armor! Go back up into the large room, and head straight north, to find some stairs leading down to the Navel of Earth's Basement 3. Head west, then start to move north and west, ignoring the masks warning you to go back. This path'll start to go south, then loop back east, with even more masks warning you not to. Ignore them, and keep going. At the end of this loop, you can pick up a TinyMedal and the Blue Orb from the chests! Feel free to use Outside, and walk back to Lancel for healing and the like. ^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2R1. Zipangu and the Orochi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: BugPowder, Cloth Suit, MysticNut x 2, Orochi Sword, PurpleOrb, Scale Shield, STRseed x 2, TinyMedal x 2, Training Suit, Wooden Hat. We've heard of the monster Orochi, and how the monster is tormenting the country of Zipangu. We're much stronger now than we were when we first got our boat, so why don't we check out Zipangu now? If you Return to Dharma, just follow the river southeast until you reach the ocean, and move east until you see a cave and a shrine on the same little island. Walk into the shrine, as this's Zipangu! This's a small town, with a large Orochi problem! West of where you enter, you can raid a dresser for a Cloth Suit, and go a bit further west to go down into a room full of vases! If you move three spaces south, and go all the way west to search that vase, you'll get a STRseed. If you go south two spaces from the stairs, three spaces east, and then two spaces north, search the eastern vase for a TinyMedal. You can also find Yayoi, the next Orochi sacrifice, a space north of here. Back upstairs, check the northern building, for a bag of BugPowder, and a MysticNut. Don't forget to get the Wooden Hat from the house east of the well! Now, let's go in the temple and meet this Himiko. She thinks the best way to deal with the Orochi is human sacrifice! Why, we can beat up that Orochi, so let's offer our services. First, check the northwestern room, and search the northeast vase here for another MysticNut. If you try the northeastern room next, you can find a Scale Shield and a Training Suit in the dressers. The room directly south of this one has six vases, and two of them are hiding a STRseed, and a TinyMedal! If you speak to Himiko, you'll basically be told to leave, and to leave things as they are. This isn't right, don't they want the Orochi defeated? Well, there's nothing saying we can't go and do that for them! Head into the nearby Zipangu Cave, and move west. Move south when you can, continuing a bit west and further south. Move a little west again, and move south and east, until you can go north. Do so, and follow the wall to the northeast, before going east to the next screen. This chest has the NohMask in it! You get lots of DEF from it, but it's also cursed! You'll be confused when wearing it, so it's best equipped when you only have one person in your adventuring party, because then you'll be extremely well-protected, and safe! After nabbing this, move back west, and down the stairs here. On this floor, take the first path to the east, as you go north. You'll cross a bridge over the lava, and emerge in a rocky lair. Orochi's lying here in wait, and she'll attack the moment you near her! She has a large amount of HP, and can dish out some big damage by spewing fire, smacking your party around, or doing both when she wants to. Keeping your HP up is about the best strategy you can do, and if you have someone with the Barrier spell, it can help protect from the fire attacks. When you finally beat her, you'll receive the Orochi Sword, which's a pretty good weapon, and Orochi'll flee her lair through a Traveler's Gate. If you want, you can walk out of the Cave, or use Outside, and heal up elsewhere. Orochi'll be back here! While you can't get multiple Orochi Swords from doing this, you can get some EXP, and it's more fun than resetting and trying to beat her up for a Monster Medal again, if you're the sort that simply must get them in order. However, to beat her for good, you'll have to go through the Gate eventually. Let's follow her! We'll appear in Himiko's temple, to find that she's been severely injured. Did the Orochi do this? But there's hardly been any time passing since we followed, and someone would've seen her if the Orochi ran through... Make sure you're healed and recovered, then talk to Himiko, and she'll telepathically tell you to hush about her true identify. Himiko's the Orochi! Say no, and get ready to fight her again! Orochi's almost exactly the same as before, except she also has a weaker fire attack she can choose to use. Just treat her the same way, and take her out for good! The next day, the entire village has already heard of your brave feat of saving them from the Orochi. You'll also see a treasure chest where Himiko/Orochi was, and it'll contain the Purple Orb! Add this one to your collection as well, and get ready for the next adventure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2S1. EchoFlute and the Pirates' House ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 552G, EchoFlute, LifeAcorn, Love Ring, Punk Ring, Red Orb, STRseed, TinyMedal x 4, Token x 2, TubeSocks. Orb-finding is hard work! There has to be some sort of item to help us in our quest, right? Actually, there is, so we might as well pick it up now. Return to Zipangu, and start sailing east, until you hit a coastline with lots of hills on it. Follow the coast north a ways, and you'll see it start to curve west, and there'll be a little penninsula. If you sail up there, you'll see a tower. This's the Arp Tower, and an item called the EchoFlute is here, if we can find it! This first floor's pretty much just moving straight north. Go through the door, then pick a direction, west or east. Either way, you'll reach a door, go through it, and continue in the opposite direction before reaching a central door. Go in there, and pick west or east again, circling around and inside the center room, to find four staircases. Pick any one to go up, they all go to the same place. Move west, and north into the next room, going up the stairs here, then going up the stairs immediately to the east of us. On this floor, just move east, and up those stairs. This's where it gets interesting, as we need to move over the ropes and find the right places to go. Move all the way west first, then take this rope straight south for a chest with a Love Ring. Now, go north a little to take the eastern rope, and get the TinyMedal from the chest. Go back north a bit, and take this next rope to the east, before going south again. This chest's a Cannibox, so watch out! That's all the chests on that floor, but what do we do now? Well, we'll have to jump down from this floor to one of the lower ones, but which? If you stand at the center rope, and move three spaces south, and two west, you'll be above a rectangle. Jumping down'll get you to a platform with four chests! There're some good items in here, like the EchoFlute! Playing this'll tell us if an Orb is around. There's also 552G, a TinyMedal, and a LifeAcorn. Once you have these, it's safe to head on out. Where to next? Well, we should go after the next Orb now! Sail south of Newburg, following the coast and continuing south to the next continent. Keep following it, until you're near the very southern tip, and you should see a little village. It's more like the rest-stop for a bunch of pirates! Should we let this stop us? The echo from the EchoFlute tells us not to. There's an Orb here! Head inside the front door, and you'll find it deserted. Let's help ourselves while we can! Head up to the northwest room, and raid the dresser here for some TubeSocks. Why would pirates have TubeSocks? The room east of here has some vases and barrels. If you search the vases, you'll find two Tokens, and you can find a TinyMedal in the center barrel. Next, go down the stairs here to the basement of the Pirates' House, and you'll find a prisoner, who tells us the pirates're only around at night. Make sure to look in the northeast corner of his cell, to get another TinyMedal! But we haven't found an Orb yet. Maybe we should ask the pirates at night? If you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised by many things: not only are these pirates and their female captain nice to you, and that they consider themselves to be like Robin Hood, but they've heard about you taking on the Demon Lord, and invite you to hang around with them! They also remark that they indeed have an Orb here, but they can't remember where they put it. Dang! Talk to the rest of the pirates, to hear about a ghost ship, and how they met it because they had the bone of a sailor. Could this be Eric's ship? They say that a man in Greenlad has the bone now, so we should check there sometime in the future. Now, we've checked everywhere for the Orb, except outside. To the east of the Pirates' House, you'll see a boulder. Could something be underneath it? Push the boulder aside, and search the floor here to find some hidden stairs! This looks promising. Inside, you'll find three chests, with a STRseed, the Red Orb, and a Punk Ring. We found the Red Orb! Rest up, save, and get ready for the next one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2T1. The King of Samanao ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 24G x 2, 56G, 128G, 320G, 568G, AGLseed, Change Staff, LarMirror, LifeAcorn, LifeStone x 2, LUCKseed, Lucky Book, Muscle Book, Plush Suit, STRseed x 2, TinyMedal x 7, Token x 4, VITseed. Further south and a bit west of the Pirates' House, there's a tiny little island on our map. This island's the location of Luzami, yet another Return-less location we can visit. Not many people live at Luzami, since the place's mostly forgotten. Even the shop in the northwest's decided to sell rumors for free, rather than items or weapons for a price. There is a LUCKseed at the base of the nearby gravestone, though, so make sure to pick it up. East of here is a house, with a Muscle Book and a Lucky Book on the shelves. Outside to the east is some cracked ground, with a TinyMedal in the center, too. Other than an observatory, the only other useful thing at this place is information. Everyone here knows about the Gaia Sword, for some reason, and that we need to throw it into a volcano to get to Gondo, where the Demon Lord Baramos lives. Didn't our father perish at a battle ontop of a volcano? The citizens'll also mention that Simon had the Gaia Sword last. But where's Simon? Remember the Greenlad Stupa, and the eastern Traveler's Gate we haven't tried yet? That's where we want to go. Head there, and pass through the Gate, to arrive at the Samanao Shrine. The Priest here will mention how the King's been acting strangely, and that he's cast the hero Simon out. Maybe the Gaia Sword was confiscated when Simon was banished? We should head to Samanao to check for ourselves. Head north until you reach the mountains, then move west, passing over a bridge as you go. Then just follow the path through the forest until you reach Samanao. Use the Inn if you need to, and the barrel next to it for a Token. Strangely, there seems to be nobody at the Temple. If you go east a bit, you'll see why: they're burying the warrior Brennan here at the graveyard, who was executed by the King over a joke. There're tons of gravestones here, all assumedly people the King has had executed recently. This's getting out of hand! We'll have to pay the King a visit ourselves. If you check the second gravestone from the east, in the first row, you'll get a TinyMedal. There's an AGLseed, by the second gravestone from the west, in the second row. The last item to get in the graveyard is a Token in the third row, three spaces from the east. Check out the house south of the graveyard, and get a STRseed from the vase inside. West of the Item Shop, you'll find another Stadium for your money-raising needs. West of here, and across the bridge, is Samanao Castle. Simon's son can be found out here, and he'll mention how he's heard his father has been jailed somewhere. You'll see that the castle has a main enterance, and a trade enterance. First, head over to the western side of the castle, and go north, to get the TinyMedal in the in the northeast corner. The front door's guarded by soldiers, so let's try the trade enterance. The guard will let you pass right by him, and you'll be in the kitchen. Check the barrel here for another TinyMedal, then creep past the guards. If you go in the northern courtyard, where the Princess is, you can get a LifeAcorn from the northeastern bush, from the group to the east. East of the courtyard is some stairs up to the second and third floor, where you can enter the King's room after jumping down. Inside the room, you can get a Cheat Book from the bookshelf, and a Club from the eastern dresser. The guard by the stairs'll let you by, so head down, and talk to the King. Well, this's interesting. We're suddenly in jail! Of course, we have the FinalKey, which can just open these doors. Maybe the guards should've confiscated our items. ^^; But then, most of the people know the King is behaving oddly, so maybe they just didn't want to see us die. If you chat to the guard here, you'll find that this's exactly the case. Open the cell to the north of us, and get a TinyMedal from the vase. The poet here'll also tell us that Simon is dead, and the jail he perished in was in a lake northeast of Romaly. Looks like this trip to Samanao wasn't a waste after all! The soldier in the cell will mention the Lar Mirror's ability to show someone's true form, and that it's in the southern cave. Well, of course it is. ^^; Head down the stairs here in the jail, and you'll find the real King! He says that the King upstairs is using the Change Staff to pretend to be the real King. This's terrible! We'll have to break out, and get the Lar Mirror to show that the King's a fake. Search the spot next to the King, and you'll get a LifeStone. It'll protect you from a successful Beat or Defeat spell, but only once. Check the western cell, and try to walk through the dark wall to the west, and you'll find the secret passage the guard mentioned, that leads out to the graveyard. Looks like we have a cave to search! Set off on foot south of Samanao, then head east and over a bridge to a swamp. This is the Samanao Cave, and the Lar Mirror's here! Take the path west, then move north to a room with some water in it. Move west here, and south, to find a set of stairs. Take these down to the next floor. If you have a Thief with you, you may be blinking at what their nose's telling them with Smell. Twenty-one items are on this floor? With our adventurer's luck, most of them are probably Canniboxes and Mimics. x.x The first chest you see here has 128G inside, and the one west of it has a STRseed. The next has 56G, and the one after that, a Token. You may notice that the chests're leading you along a trail, moving northwest now. That's okay, follow them anyways. The chests will have 568G, 24G, and a LifeAcorn, before heading east, to a chest with a TinyMedal. The next chest has 320G, before you head off the screen into a room with four chests. All of these chests are Mimics! Leave them or kill them, depending on your style, and head back to the stairs for this floor. Now, instead of going up them, go to the south of the fourth chest, and to the next screen. Head south, and east, then go north when you reach the intersection. You'll see a chest with a VITseed in it, then a chest east of it with 24G, as well as a chest to the north with a Token. Go north into the next room, to fight off a Mimic in the western chest, and getting a TinyMedal in the eastern chest. Go back to where we decided to go north to the VITseed chest, and go south instead, going east to the next screen, then heading north. The chest up here is a Mimic, and if you go up a screen, the west chest is a Mimic as well. The chest to the east is a LifeStone, though, which it never hurts to have extras of. ^^ Go back south, and east, then go down these stairs. You'll want to move west, then north on this floor, and open this chest for a Plush Suit. Now go back upstairs, to the stairs we originally came from before following the chest-trail, and go south. You should see a hole to the east. Jump down it, and you'll land by a chest on the third floor. It's the LarMirror! Pocket it, and head Outside the dungeon. Save, rest up, and go back to Samanao at night, to expose the false King for who he really is. Sneak up into the King's room, like you did earlier to get the books there, and use the LarMirror on the sleeping King. He'll be revealed to be a monster, and he'll attack! This's a BossTroll, and he hits pretty hard! He'll lower your defense, and wail on you repeatedly, but he shouldn't be too hard for you! When you win, the day'll dawn, and you'll get the Change Staff from a chest. Great! Now we need to see how to get to that jail Simon was at. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2U1. The Ghost Ship and the Shrine Jail ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 128G, 670G, Bone, Gaia Sword, Garter, LuvMemory, Poison Dagger, Silk Hat, STRseed, TinyMedal x 6, Token x 2. Now that we have the Change Staff, we can actually shop at Elvenham! Just use the Change Staff until you look like a Hobbit, then talk to the Item Shop elf. They have some minor items you might've missed or wanted, plus you can get some Wizard Rings! You might want to stock up on them now, and be all set for later in the game. When you've gotten everything from Elvenham that you'll want, it's time to move on. We didn't get the Change Staff to keep, but to trade! Head to the small icey northeastern continent of Greenlad, and check for the patch of grass on the ice. You'll be at a small house on the ice, known as the Wizard's Cabin. Go northeast, and eventually you'll see the house in question, and find the old man here who wants the Change Staff. He'll offer you the Bone that the pirates at the Pirates' House said would let us find Eric's ghost Ship! If you're done at Elvenham, say yes, and you'll get the Bone. Don't forget to search the dressers for a TinyMedal and a Silk Hat. When you're set, get on your boat, and use the Bone. It'll tell you how many spaces you need to sail to find the Ghost Ship. The Ghost Ship'll be moving erraticly while you're tracking it down, so it might take some readjustments! When you do arrive on it, head southeast to a staircase. Rather than taking it, move further south, and beat up the MiniDemon to the east. Remember to take the TinyMedal from the eastern barrel! Explore this floor, to find the poor souls who've died on this Ghost Ship, and have never been allowed to leave. Eric is indeed here, and dispairs of never seeing Olivia again. You'll find others who've passed on, or were left here with no hope of escape as the ship went down... We can't help these people, but we can use what's on the ship to help save the world. South of the stairs, you'll find a bed and a lone chest, with the LuvMemory inside. This pendant symbolizes the memories Eric and Olivia shared as a living couple, and might be just what we need to put the ghost of Olivia to rest. The chests north of the LuvMemory chest contain 128G, a Token, 670G, and a Poison Dagger. The southwestern chest's a Mimic! There's a TinyMedal in the second barrel from the west, on the top row, and a STRseed in the southwestern vase. Head further north, past the stairs, to get to a room with three dressers. The middle dresser has a Garter! Once you have all these, head off the Ghost Ship, and head to Noaniels. Get in your boat, and start sailing east. You'll see a river opening blocked by shoals. We can't get in this way, so just keep going east. The coastline will start south, heading towards where we got our WorldLeaf, but follow the river west past the Hobbit Shrine instead. As you pass Olivia Cape, and continue west, you'll be pushed back by Olivia's spirit. Use the LuvMemory as soon as you can, and you'll reunit the spirits of Eric and Olivia again! You can now sail through the channel, and find the Shrine Jail. Don't forget to check out the Pachisi Board north of the Shrine Jail first, though! Stand north of the soldier here, then check the grass two spaces north, to get a TinyMedal. If you stand to the east of the soldier, and move five spaces east, and two spaces south, checking the ground here will get you a Token. Head on upstairs to find the track, and have a go or two at it if you want! ^^ Make sure to check to the southwest of the center ? Space on the board, before playing, to get another TinyMedal. Back at the Jail Shrine, head south, and take the path to the west. Open the door here, and search the vase for yet another TinyMedal. Go back east, and continue south, before heading west and speaking to the spirit here. This is Simon, and he wants us to examine the ground by his corpse. His corpse's two screens east, and if you search the ground north of it, you'll receive the Gaia Sword. This's what we need to get to the Gondo Shrine to get the Silver Orb! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2V1. The Silver Orb and Lamia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Blade Armor, Light Orb, SilverOrb, Thunder Sword, TinyMedal x 5, Token x 2. Return to Ashalam, and hop on your boat. Start sailing south, then west, before following the river south to a volcano. Walk up beside it, then face it and use the Gaia Sword. An eruption will occur, and melt the nearby river into a clear path we can follow. Head south past the forest and hills, then follow the grassy valley between the mountains as it heads further south. Move west, past the poisonous swamp, then north to a lone cave. This is the Gondo Cave! Move west past the statues, and north until we reach the stairs. Go up them, then west past the torch on the wall, following the path as it moves south and west until you hit a wall. Move south until you can go west again, and continue off the screen for a chest with a TinyMedal. Go back east, and go to the next screen, before moving south all the way. To the west, you'll find another chest, with a welcomed Thunder Sword inside. Go south to the next screen, then follow the western path until you can choose to go south or west. Go west first, and pocket the Blade Armor here, then come back and go south to the stairs heading up. We want to go south on this floor, as far south as possible, before moving east and past a room with six pits. You'll find more stairs going up, and you should take them. Go east to the next screen, then start going north. We have no choice but to jump down this pit, and look for a way up on the other side. Move north, until you see a set of stairs. Stand exactly to the south of them, then move eight steps south, and six west. This's where a cleverly-hidden TinyMedal is! I'd have missed it if it wasn't for Smell and MapMagic. ^^; Go back to the stairs, and go up them. Move east, and south, careful not to fall down the pit, and go up the stairs you'll see here. Head south to the first bridge you see, then go across it, moving northeast to the next screen. Go south here, then east to the next screen, across a bridge, and further east. Move south here, then east into the black area, following the path as it moves north to some stairs. Finally, the exit! North of us is Baramos's Castle, surrounded by a moat we can't cross. How'll we get in? First, move east, and you'll see a shrine here, the Gondo Shrine. This's where the SilverOrb is rumored to be! The man inside here will give you the Orb we came here for. Before going, check the gravestones north of him, and you'll get two Tokens and a TinyMedal. Return to Lancel, and start sailing for the icey continent of Leiamland, which's to the southwest. There's a single lone shrine here we want to visit, with all six Orbs. As you enter, check the spot two steps east of the ladder for a TinyMedal, then go up. You'll see six pedestals, one for each of your Orbs. Face the pedestal from the bottom, and use an Orb, to put it in place. Once all six're placed, you'll speak to the protectors of the egg, and Lamia'll hatch! Now you can fly anywhere in the world, without getting into fights! There's some places we can still check, before we attack Baramos. If you go to the northwest of the Arp Tower, you'll see a small spring amidst the mountains, just off the frozen tundra. If you walk by it, you'll be in a small area by the spring. Walking out to the edge will cause you to drop your equipped weapon! You'll meet Aurhea, the spirit of this spring, and she'll ask if you dropped something, and she'll offer to look for it. Tell her the truth, and don't say that you dropped a Stick, or a Demon Axe, but let her know when she mentions the actual item you dropped. If you come back, and drop it again, you'll have to answer her question about doing so on purpose. She'll say she lost it, and you can forgive her, to get 50G and the item you dropped! I can't quite figure out anything else to do here, but maybe you can. ^^; If you go back to the Shrine Jail, but fly northeast instead of landing, you'll see a castle surrounded by mountains. This is the Dragon Queen's Castle, and we can only visit it by using Lamia. Good thing we flew here then, ne? The talking horses inside will tell us that this castle is the closest to the Sky World above. If you circle around the inner wall of the castle, you'll see an Elf by three brightly-lit stained glass windows. She'll tell you that only those who have earned the real title of Hero can reach the Sky World from here. This sounds like an important clue of some sort, so don't forget it. Two spaces to the east of the Elf, you'll find a TinyMedal! Move straight south of here, and you'll meet the Dragon Queen. She's very ill, and will pass on soon. She asks if we intend to take on the Demon King, and she'll give you the Light Orb, then lay her egg and pass on. Demon King? But we're after Baramos, the Demon Lord... When you're set, and you've gotten everything you feel may be a help to you, get back on Lamia and fly towards Baramos's Castle, landing across the moat, and take your first steps inside. It's time to thrash Baramos! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2W1. Overthrow of the Demon Lord ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: Demon Axe, LUCKseed, Misery Helmet, Seduce Sword, STRseed, TinyMedal x 4, Wizard Ring. As you enter the Castle, move forward and through the front door. You'll see two staircases here, one leading up, and the other down. Go down for now, then south until you spot a passage going east. Follow this passage, and open the door at the end to find a corpse on a bed. There's a TinyMedal on the space to the west of the corpse that we can pocket. Go back upstairs, and outside. Baramos isn't going to just make a normal enterance to his lair, after all! Head around the eastern edge of the castle, remaining inside the main walls, and you should see a simple door leading inside. Enter through here, and go upstairs. Head west, then south, and west past the statues to another staircase leading down. You'll have to go south over some damage tiles, though, so use StepGuard if your party has that spell, or just take the damage and walk through it. You'll see two more staircases here, one leading downwards, and one climbing upwards. Take the one going up for now, following its path east and heading downstairs, to three chests. You'll get a Demon Axe, a Wizard Ring, and a Misery Helmet! The Axe's good, but don't put on the Misery Helmet, because it's cursed! Head back upstairs, west, and down the stairs again, to return to the room with the damage tiles. Take the staircase leading down, then go east to go up another staircase. Move north, east, and up more stairs, then west across the floor to more stairs down. You'll see a door here, which you should walk through, and another door out in the courtyard, which'll bring us to yet another staircase down. Follow the path north, use the stairs, then go south and use StepGuard if you have it, before moving west to the next screen. This floor's full of damage tiles! Search the spot infront of the corpse on the throne for a TinyMedal, then exit to the south through the door. We're almost done! Go east, and over the little walkway in the water, over the tiles, and down the stairs to a glowing red room. Move north, over a last set of damage tiles, and challenge Baramos! Wait, how did such a tubby guy get through all those corridors and staircases? Maybe that's why he's just sat here waiting for us. In any event, enjoy Baramos's polite dinner conversation about eating your intestines, and the fight'll start! Baramos won't be a disappointing fight. He'll use Explodet when he feels like it, hitting your entire party in explosions. He hits pretty hard physically as well, and his blast of intense flames may catch you off guard the first time you're hit with it, sending you running for healing. He can get two turns when he chooses to, though this thankfully doesn't happen constantly. He'll even squeeze in a few cheap spells, like PanicAll and Disperse! The Light Orb from the Dragon Queen won't work in this battle, so don't waste a turn by using it. After a long memorible fight, Baramos'll fall... A voice will tell you to return to Aliahan, and will revive your party and heal you all up for free, as well as bringing you outside Aliahan's door. The citizens inside will greet their triumphant Hero, and tell you that they already heard the news. Let's go visit the King! Maybe we'll even get a party in our honor! The King'll congratulate you, and yes, we'll get a party! If you took out Baramos without any other partymembers in your party, you'll gain a Bastard Sword as an extra award. Why didn't the King give this to us at the start of the game? The soldiers'll break out the trumpets, and cue the theme song. Wai!! ^^ Our work isn't done, though... the room will darken and flash, the soldiers will be struck down by lighting, and a large evil form will appear behind the throne! It's Zoma, the Destroyer of All, also known as the Demon King, and he happily tells us that he was the real source of evil from the start, and that he's already savoring the day he takes over the world. The King'll be entirely unsure what to do next, and the counciler'll have to save our game for us. ^^; But where do we go now? First, to Portoga! Talk to the couple here by the water, who were previously under their day/night curse. Defeating Baramos freed them from their curse! They'll happily hand you the Seduce Sword, that only female characters are able to use. For those female Heros who've just saved the world, return to the Pirates' House and chat to the pirate captain to drink some good grog! If you want to, you can gain the Amazon personality in this way, or just stay with the one you have. It's not a major thing, but it's another fun aspect of the game! If you return to Newburg, you'll see the city's better than ever. Your Dealer's decided that they want to give up being Mayor, and let the city grow on their own. They'll return to Ruida's Tavern, where they can again join the party! You can also go upstairs in the house where the jail used to be, and get a TinyMedal from the dresser. Now we have to go after Zoma. We know that the Giana Pit is the source of the world's evil, so maybe Zoma lives in there? Start flying back towards Baramos's Castle, and the swamp-encircled cave east of it, known as Giana Pit. When you get here, you'll see that the walls've fallen, and hear that an earthquake shook the ground open. This must be where Zoma came from! Walk over to the edge, and jump down to reach... a house? Search the grassy spot west of the house for a STRseed, and raid the dresser inside for a LUCKseed. Exit south of the house, help yourself to the boat, and search the southeast corner of the northern peer for a TinyMedal. Even in this Dark World, TinyMedals're scattered around. ^^; Now, sail out into the new world before us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2X1. Alefgard, the Dark World ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 550G, AGLseed, LifeAcorn, Lucky Book, MysticNut, Pixy Map, Sun Stone, TinyMedal x 2, Token x 3, Wimpy Book. Those of you who've played Dragon Warrior 1 or 2 should recognize this world on sight. For those who don't, the music from Tantegal, which's located east of where you emerge on your boat, should immediately bring some memories back. Either way, this is Alefgard, and our first base of operation here is the previously-mentioned Tantegal. North of where we enter Tantegal is the Weapon Shop, where you can get some upgrades. Search the northeast square of the middle of the flowerbed, to get a MysticNut. If you go to the nearby temple, and go upstairs, you'll see Kandar! He'll tell you that something called the Sun Stone is in Tantegal Castle. You can also get the Token out of the vase in his cell. South of the temple, you can go upstairs and hear a riddle about sun and rain combining to make a rainbow bridge. You can also get a Lucky Book and a Wimpy Book from the bookshelves here. Head east, outside the village walls, towards the Castle. Go north first, and through the trees so you can see the person standing by the northeast corner of the village walls. In the spot two spaces east, and two spaces south of him, you'll find a TinyMedal. Go along the path, and head south when it moves north, to reach a house past a flowerbed. Upstairs is a LifeAcorn in a dresser! Go back on the main path, and go north when it does, to reach Tantegal Castle! Stand to the east of the northeastern torch, then move three spaces east, and three north, to get a Token. Inside, head west at the pool, and go north through the door to find three empty chests. The nearby kids tell you that Zoma already took the contents of these chests away a long time ago. Shoot! Continue north, and go up these stairs. Raid the dressers on this floor for a Token and some Boxer Shorts, then talk to the people here to find that your father was here! He's alive! Hurry back downstairs, continue north, east, and out the castle by the northern enterance, then speak to the man here. They'll say someone from Aliahan has been here. It must've been Ortega! Go east, and check the spot to the west of the cat for a Token, then go back inside and make your way to the kitchen. The western barrel has a TinyMedal inside. If you try to walk through the kitchen's southern wall, you'll find an important secret: a staircase going up! Check the barrels for 550G, an AGLseed, and check the chest for the Sun Stone! Head up to the throneroom, and speak to the King. He'll save our game, but doesn't think we stand much of a chance. Head south and out to the rooftop of the castle, and talk to the priest here to receive the Pixy Map, which works much like our Magic Map. Now what? We need to challenge Zoma, who's castle is within sight of Tantegal. We need to recover the Kings Sword, Light Armor, and Hero Shield that was stolen from the castle, and try to find what this Sun Stone'll do to assist our quest. So, which do we go and try to do first? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2Y1. Heroic Shield, Spoony Harp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 960G, 1016G, Hero Shield, MohawkWig, ShinyHarp, TinyMedal x 2. Start traveling northwest of Tantegal, until we pass between the mountains, then head north through the forest and hills to a lone cave in a small desert. The citizens of Tantegal refer to this place as Nail Mark, and tell us the fissure inside that it was named for, was created when the Demon King appeared. It's also here that we'll begin our quest to recover the stolen items from Tantegal Castle, and find a way to attack Zoma's Castle. Beware, that much like the Pyramid's secret basement, this entire cave is sealed against magic, so you'll have to rely on brute force and keeping your HP up to survive. As you enter, move south until you hit a wall, then move west, south, east, and south again, then go east as far as you can into another wall. Ouch! >"< Go a bit south, then east, and you should be able to see the stairs. Traveling north, east, and south'll get you to them without a problem. Go down to the next floor, and move north and west until you can go south. Move west, northwest, and all the way west, before just following the corridor as it snakes north, east, north, west, and the like, until you hit another staircase going down. Down in the third basement, you'll see a large door, and cracked walls that render the door obsolete. beyond it, you'll see a series of five chests. The chest just past the door has 960G in it, and there's a Mimic in the chest to the northwest of that. Moving northeast, you'll get a chest with 1016G in it, then a TinyMedal in the next one. This leaves one chest on the other side of the fissure, so walk around the western edge, and open it to get the Hero Shield! We've already gotten back one of the three stolen treasures! Don't worry about falling into the fissure, after an earthquake, you'll be sent back where you fell in. ^^ Walk back outside the cave, and Return to Tantegal for healing and saving! With that step covered, move westward, until you hit the coastline where your boat is waiting. Move north, and west when you can, until you see a bridge to your north. Cross it, then move north all the way to the mountain range, before detouring around it to the west. You'll find a shrine here, which's Garin's House. His family inside mentions that he's traveling as a bard, and took something called the Shiny Harp with him. Well, help yourself to the MohawkWig and TinyMedal in the dressers, then follow the path outside to a staircase going down. Search the chest to find that it's empty! But don't leave just yet. Search the spot east of the chest, and you'll get the ShinyHarp! Looks like Garin doesn't put his instruments back after using them. What a spoony bard! ^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2Z1. Southern Alefgard ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 1016G, Bunny Tiara, Defy Book, Devil Armor, Devil Sword, Hero Book, Joke Book, Kindly Book, Lady Book, Magic Bikini, Oricon, Party Dress, Punk Ring, Rain Staff, Rosary Necklace, Smart Book, Sucker, TinyMedal x 6, Token x 2, Wizard Ring x 2. Get all settled in Tantegal again, then walk towards the southwest, passing around the lower mountains and moving west until we see a cave, to the east of a poisonous swamp. This is the Rocky Cave! While it's not important to our quest, we can get some goodies from it, so it's worth a shot. As you enter, move east to the next screen, and continue past to a wall. Move south, east, south, and east again, to find a room with a Wizard Ring. Head back to the start of the area, and go north this time. Follow the path east, north, west, and north to a room with stairs going down. Don't go downstairs, though. Instead, move east, south, east, north, east, and take the second intersection south, to get a chest with 1016G. Head back up to the last screen, and move west and south, before going east and taking these stairs down. On this floor, move all the way east, then go south to the next screen, and a chest with a TinyMedal. Go back north, and west, then head south and west until you hit another wall. Move south, east, south, then follow this path west and north until you come to two chests, with a Devil Sword and a suit of Devil Armor inside. Both're cursed, so don't put them on! You can use Outside once you've cleaned the Rocky Cave out. Now, start to wander far south of the Rocky Cave, and cross the bridge to your west when you hit a southern mountain range. Continue west across it, and curve around the mountains, before heading east into the desert. You'll see a city in here, which is known as Domdora. There's some pretty good equipment in the shops here for your party to use! Upstairs in the closed shop, you can get a Sucker from the dresser. Upstairs in the Inn, you'll find Lenna from Ashalam, and a Bunny Tiara from her dresser. If you go back to Ashalam at night, and talk to the dancing group's leader, he'll thank you for telling them Lenna's safe. You'll also get a Magic Bikini for your trouble! Back in Domdora, the other people'll mention Mercado, and a metal called Oricon. I personally think it's short for Orihalcon, which's a magical metal in some animes and games, but I could be wrong. There's a southern half of the city, which's very easy to miss. ^^; Make sure you don't! You'll find a man who's always sneezing, and he claims it's because people're talking about him. It's another bit of japanese culture that made it past the editing room. ^^ His vase has a TinyMedal in it, and there's a Joke Book in the bookshelf. An Elf in this town'll mention the Pixy Flute being in Kol, and you'll hear something's hidden in this town's horse stable. When you do enter the main stable, check the eastern most niche in the wall, for a TinyMedal, then go south to the stable's pasture. Check the center of the bushes here for the Oricon! Wai! ^^ Don't forget to go down the town's well, and move to the southwest. Check the southwest corner of the little pond for another TinyMedal! Now start walking straight south, and you'll come to a small pond of water, as well as a bridge to the south of it. Cross over, and head northeast through the forest. When the forests clear, you'll find a bridge to the east that you should take. Across the desert, you'll find a small shrine admist a poison swamp. This's the Spirit Shrine. A lone Elf on the first floor tells us that Ortega is trying to defeat Zoma. That's just like him. ^^ Upstairs, you shall speak to the Faery who gave you your personality test! She'll appoligize if she had said anything mean to you, like calling you lazy, and she'll give you the Rain Staff. The center of the red carpet's decoration has a hidden TinyMedal, and if you stand to the north of the eastern torch, then move four spaces north, and two spaces east, to find a Rosary Necklace. We're all set with the Spirit Shrine, so go back west and over the bridge. Continue northeast now, until you come to a second bridge with some poisonous swamp on the other side. Cross over, and move south, to find the fortress village of Mercado. There's a little deserted room in the northwest of the city, with a TinyMedal in the northwest corner. If you go south from there, you'll pass the Inn, a sleeping merchant, and find an abandoned marketplace. Go upstairs here, and you'll find a small treasure trove! The dressers in the first room have a Token and Party Dress, and in the room with the Golem builder, you'll find a Kindly Book, Lady Book, Smart Book, Hero Book, and Defy Book! If you go in the unconstructed bulding south of this building, and search where the two enterances intersect, you'll find a Wizard Ring. Back at the Inn, help yourself to the Punk Ring in the dresser, and say hello to Garin. He won't ask for his harp back, though. What a nice guy! Walk into the wall of the building east of the deserted marketplace, and we'll find a hidden temple with lots of damage tiles. They'll mention that you need the Sun Stone, Rain Staff, and the Crest to get to Zoma, and that we should visit the Sacred Shrine afterwards. I just saved you a trip through the tiles! ^^ If you check out the deserted marketplace east of this room, and examine the western counter, you'll get a Token. That should be everything! ^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2A2. Kol and Rubiss's Crest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 960G, 1016G, Cloth Suit, Crest, Flame Boomerang, GoldBeak, INTseed, Kings Sword, Life Ring, LifeAcorn x 2, Light Armor, Love Ring, MysticNut, PixyFlute, STR Ring, STRseed, TinyMedal x 10, Token x 11, Toughness Rock, Zen Scroll. Return to Domdora, and start going south again. This time, go east at the first forest you reach, to find a bridge. Go across it, and head northeast, through the forest and some hills. You'll see a desert path through some mountains, which you should follow east, northeast, east, and southeast, until you can get off the path and back into the forest. Head east, then make sure you're to the west of the mountains as you go north. Curve around the lake in a clockwise manner, and you'll cross a small landbridge into Rimuldar! First off, head to the Inn, and check out the dresser inside for a Toughness Rock. If you enter the Inn's southern enterance, you'll find a chest with a Life Ring inside! West of the Inn, you'll find a fortune teller, and some stairs leading up to a Temple, if you need it. If you leave, and go around the southern part of the building, you can find a wall to walk through from the west. Up these stairs, you'll find a criminal, who claims there's a staircase behind the Demon King's throne! Is he telling the truth? We'll have to find out the hard way once we get there. Check to the south of the table in his cell, and you'll get a TinyMedal. That's guaranteed. ^^ North of the fortune teller's building, you'll find another house, with a GoldBeak in the dresser, and a TinyMedal and STRseed in the vases. Make sure to check out the dresser in the eastern room, to get a Zen Scroll! Now, there's just one more place to check. From the town's enterance, go north, and circle around Rimuldar's moat, following it west. You'll see a little shop here! The man here wishes to see a magic key someday, so that he can make a Magic Key Shop. ^^ You can get an INTseed from the east vase, and raid the dressers for a Token and a TinyMedal. Now that we've made it to Rimuldar, use Return to go back to Rimuldar. Seriously! Your boat, which's seriously restricted here in Alefgard, will appear in a spot east of Rimuldar. You can check with your Pixy Map, by pressing Select and seeing where the anchor appears, if you didn't know before. Pass around the mountains, either north or south of them, then heading east, before getting back on the boat and sailing north. Follow the coast of the northern continent, ignoring the areas of desert until you see an area of forest, then anchoring your boat. Go west through the forest, and you'll see a town tucked in some mountains. This's Kol! Kol's a sleepy little town, with some important secrets. You'll come across the well in the middle of town rather quickly, and inside the well is the fourth Pachisi Board! Yes, this addictive game's spread all the way to the Dark World of Alefgard. If you go down, and stand on the ladder, you can find a TinyMedal three spaces south of you, in the water. If you go to see the Pachisi Board, you'll find it's huge! There's a Token hiding in the far northeast corner, off the board. Down in the basement of the Pachisi Board, you can get another Token from the center of the western square, in the southeast corner. There's another Token in the center of the eastern square, if you check the southwest corner, and lastly yet another Token in the center of the northern square, to the southwest. That's a lot of Tokens! Up on the second floor, follow the eastern edge north and west past the Stair space on the board, checking the corner square of grass for yet another Token. Go around the western edge of the track, to the end, so that you get to a small flower patch west of the goal. Search here for a TinyMedal! When you're ready to keep exploring Kol, head back up the well and go to the north. One of the people on the way comments that the King's Sword has been destroyed! It took Zoma three years, but the weapon we're searching for was destroyed before we got here. Maybe we can just use the ones we have to take him on? North of the Inn, you'll find a tree in the background. Search the corner between the normal trees to the east, and the tree to the north, for a MysticNut. There's an open air bath nearby. If you stand on the ladder leading into the water, and search the ground, you'll get a TinyMedal! Now, go south of the bath, until you hit the tree, then search the ground to find the PixyFlute! We can use this to save Rubiss, the creator of this world before it fell to the Demon King Zoma. West of the Well is a cluster of buildings. The first building is the home of a couple from Zipangu, of all places, and the wife's husband forged swords. Now we know why there aren't any to buy up in Zipangu anymore. ^^; Check the dressers for a Cloth Suit and a Token, then continue south and east to a small tavern area. Search the center tile for... yes, a Token! Can you tell there's a Pachisi Board nearby? x.x Don't forget to talk to the people here. You'll hear about how the King's Sword was made of Oricon, and how the Item Shop owner everyone says can fix things easily, is from Zipangu. Coincidence? Check the hanging sacks upstairs for, do I need to say it? A Token... and a TinyMedal! Even though we've gotten over 90 TinyMedals by now, it seems like Kol has more than that many Tokens hiding around it. x.x Sell the owner of the Item Shop your Oricon, and get a nice little profit from it. ^^ Leave Kol, and return to the Item Shop, and you can find a lovely Kings Sword for sale, just waiting for you to get 35000G. Go earn some money, and come back and buy it! Far to the southwest of this continent, across a poisonous swamp, you'll find a small cave. This is the Marshy Cave, and there're no enemies inside, just people. They're trying to make a tunnel to the other continent, but that won't happen for a long while yet. ^^ We can instead help ourselves to some goodies in here. In the room with the two men and all the beds, check under the western torch, between two beds, for a Token. If you go to the end of the tunnel, and try to help them dig, or at least examine the wall one space north and one space west of the eastern digger, you'll get a TinyMedal! Yup, that's everything here, so head on out. Now, use your Return spell to get to Kol, and make your way west to your boat. Sail west until you're about to hit an island, then go straight north. You should find another island here, with a tower on it. This's the Rubiss Tower, where Rubiss was sealed up by the Demon King Zoma. Let's help Rubiss out! Enter the Tower, and move north until you reach a door across some damaging tiles. Pass through the door, and continue into the northern room, to find 1016G in the eastern chest, and a Mimic in the western chest. After getting those, go south to the main corridor, then move west into the large room, passing through the southern wall and moving up the stairs. On this floor, you'll find diamond-tiles, that make you move in different directions than the direction you press. The key is in the coloring! If the white part of the tile points to the west, then that's the direction you'll go in when you press Up on the Control Pad. Pressing Left will make you move south, Down will make you move east, and Right'll make you move north. If the white part of the tile is in the east, then pressing Up will make you move east. Right'll make you move south, Down will make you move west, and Left will make you move north! These can be hard to get used to at first, so practice this the first chance you get, until it's intuitive. Now for this floor's directions. Head north, and east at the next room, to get to a room full of diamond-tiles, and damage tiles! Go north, first, and maneuver over the tiles as best you can, to reach four treasure chests. There's a STR Ring and a TinyMedal in the top row of chests, and 960G in the southeast chest. The southwest chest's a hungry Mimic! If you go to the south of this room, you can find another group of chests, with a LifeAcorn, Love Ring, Flame Boomerang, and another LifeAcorn. After getting all the chests, head east and up the stairs. Head all the way south now, and go up the stairs. Go north into a room with a pit. Take the center path, carefully navigating the tiles, then opening the chest here for the Light Armor! That's the last of the three pieces of equipment stolen from Tantegal Castle! Now, take a jump into the pit, and you'll appear in a room with two skeletons on the ground diagonally across from each other. Search the spot above the eastern skeleton for a Token, then move south, and continue west, then all the way north, to find a lone chest. There's a TinyMedal inside of it. East of the TinyMedal chest, go on the direction-changing tiles, and purposely jump off the northern part of the Tower. You'll land in the back, and you can go south to reenter the Tower. Head west, and up the stairs to the second floor. Move east now, carefully going over the tiles, and up the stairs to the third floor. Go up the stairs here, move west, and go upstairs one last time to reach the fifth floor! Go south, east, and north, to the center room, and a statue of a stone goddess. Take out the PixyFlute, and play it before the statue, to free the Earth Elemental Rubiss! She made all of Alefgard, before the Demon King took over, and asks you to please help defeat him. To aid you, she'll leave you the Crest! Now we have all three items needed to get to Zoma's Castle! With Rubiss freed, you can now use Outside to escape, and get ready for the final battle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2B2. Zoma, the Demon King ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Items: 2-Edged Sword, LifeStone, RainbwDrp, SageRock, TinyMedal x 4, Wizard Ring, WorldLeaf. With the Sun Stone, Rain Staff, and Crest in hand, Return to Rimuldar, and get on your boat. Begin sailing south, until you reach an island. anchor the boat on the southern part of the continent, and start walking north between the mountains and through the forest, to reach the Spirit Shrine. Speak to the priest in the middle of the Shrine, and the Rain Staff and Sun Stone'll combine into the RainbwDrp! We get to keep the Crest, which's good, because it's one of my favorite Accessories. ^^ While the priest says the chest he's guarding is empty, there is a TinyMedal beneath the western cross. When you're ready to take on the Demon King, Return to Rimuldar, and start to walk to the west. Follow the mountains on the coast to the northwest, continuing along until you reach a small finger of land, with a tiny bit of water seperating you from the western shore. Face the water, and use the RainbwDrp, to create a bridge to the other side. Now, unlike Ortega, we can just walk over and knock on the door of Zoma's Castle! Cross through the hills, swamps, and deserts as you move clockwise around the island, to spot Zoma's Castle. It's staying still, like all good castles should, just waiting for us to walk inside. Enter, and follow the passageway east, moving north, west, and back south when it does. We'll see two doors to the east of us, one going north, and one going south. Enter the southern door, and examine the northeast damage tile for a TinyMedal. Go back north to the corridor, and move west, before entering the center room. The doors'll quickly slam shut behind us, and the statues in the room will attack! Two GrndTitans will attack you each time you pass between the statues, for three fights total. If these guys are giving your party trouble, then you seriously want to level up. They're the least of our worries in here! Once they're all defeated, continue north into the throneroom, over the damage tiles. Search the middle of the two thrones for a TinyMedal, then search the spot one space east, and three spaces north, to find a hidden staircase leading down! Head down the next set of stairs on the next floor, to reach the second floor of the basement. On this floor, you want to move north. There's all sorts of the diamond direction-changing tiles here! These shouldn't be hard for you by now, though. Navigate through the room, and enter the center of the northern passages, to find a staircase going down to the next floor of the basement. Move west, then go south, before going west and south again. You can get a 2-Edged Sword from the chest at the end of this path! It's dangerous, as the name might tell you, so don't equip it. Head back north, and east, before moving south. Move east, south, and east again, to end up in a room. It's just a simple matter of moving north, and following the path as it turns east, north, and west again, to find the stairs down to the next floor. Go north through the door, then east and north, going across the bridge before you see something ahead of you. Someone's battling a large monster! It's Ortega!! We'll get to watch the Ortega versus King Hydra fight in a nifty little cut scene. Ortega's pretty nimble for his age, and he's got some of your Hero's own moves, like Zap. But he's taken too much damage getting to here, and simply can't keep his MP high enough to heal... He'll be badly hurt, and left for dead, when you manage to get over to where he's laying. His amnesia cured, Ortega will appoligize to the heroic figure he cannot hear or see, and ask you to appoligize to yourself for him failing. With those words, Ortega will flicker and vanish, dead for real after all this time. Filled with new resolve to slay King Hydra, and his leader, Zoma, continue north past the doorway. Move east at the statue, and go south into this next room for a small treasure horde. The contents are, from west to east, a TinyMedal, a LifeStone, a WorldLeaf, a SageRock, a Wizard Ring, and a Mimic. Once you've cleared the room out, go back out to the hall, and continue east to the statue. When you reach it, move all the way south, and down the stairs for the final level. Heal yourself up, get ready for a battle, then walk north and onto the altar. The torches'll light, and Zoma'll welcome you to his home. He'll order his followers to attack you. The first's KingHydra! He fights almost identically to the way he fought Ortega. Hit him hard and often, and don't use up all your MP, because there's three other fights left! The SageStone you picked up can be used to cast HealUs for free, whenever you want it to, so it's a good counter to KingHydra's firey breath. He should go down without much trouble. Get down from the altar, and walk north through the torches. You'll get attacked by BaraBomus! He fights almost identical to Baramos, which's fitting, since they look similar. The same intense flames'll annoy you, as will his Explodet spell. The SageStone should still be an effective counter, as well as other healing, letting you restore your energy as the rest of the party unloads their damaging attacks. The fight's easier than the Baramos one in many ways! Pretty soon, BaraBomus'll fall as well, leaving just one more guardian before Zoma's alone. BaraGonus is next, and he looks like the Skullgons and Putregons you've fought in other areas. He seems to only have physical attacks, but expect a couple hundred HP of damage from each blow! While he's stronger, his defenses seem weaker, and you'll be hitting him harder than he's hitting you, enough to eventually slay him and return his bones to the ground. N
