All names, items, etc. I reference are named either by what they look like or by their English name in the Dragon Warrior series. I am making an effort to update this FAQ and providing the proper Japanese names for things wherever I can. Enjoy the walkthrough! Review Graphics - 9/10 The graphics in this game are amazing. It is not the detail that astounds me it is the animations of all the various slimes and monsters you will encounter. They all seem to move and act in comical ways which adds to Slime Morimori's upbeat theme. Some of the graphics will remind people of the popular Yoshi's Island game and its crayon drawn graphics and stretch effects. All the characters are colorful and big which is a good thing for a handheld game. Gameplay - 10/10 I love the gameplay because of its innovation. This is not some sort of Zelda clone (actually I like this game even more then the latest Gameboy Zeldas such as Oracles and the Link to the Past rerelease) it actually has a lot of unique techniques and puzzles that are interesting. Your main goal, rescuing your slime buddies, is fun and rewarding considering your town grows as you rescue more and more slimes. The game's fast pace makes it ideal for the handheld system as a person can just pick it up, beat a level in under an hour then shut it off. Even gathering objects and monsters is a lot of fun. Slime Morimori is not a long game and you should be able to beat it within five to ten hours. If you are aiming for all the upgrades and monster statues then it could take roughly double the time. Music and Sound - 6/10 The music was great and cheery yet I noticed it looped every few seconds which sort of drove on my nerves. Most of the tracks are rehashes of classic Dragon Quest songs which is great for fans of the series. The sounds were ok but nothing memorable. I don't think Slime Morimori will be remembered for its sound and music quality. Replay Value and Extras - 8/10 After rescuing all the slimes you can still play the multitude of mini-games that are offered throughout the town to get the highest score or lowest time. You can also aim to get all the gold monster statues and finish the mysterious picture puzzle. I like little extras like these as they are great distractions from the main game. Overall (not an average) - 9/10 This game has renewed my faith in the Dragon Quest series (even though this is just a spin off.) I was never a huge fan of the Zelda series or other action RPGs but this game also renewed my interest in this genre as well. Though it is short and is quick to master, Slime Morimori is a highly entertaining game. I hope this game is brought to North America or have a possible sequal released in the future (I would like it to have triple the upgrade offerings and five times more slimes to rescue.) Part II Hints and Tips *Save often especially after rescuing slimes. *Never leave a level empty handed. Grab anything even if it is monsters before leaving. *Keep in mind the final upgrade takes 50 gold bars to do. I suggest you do not sell them until you have over 50. *Mine carts are your friend especially if they have a capacity of four. Tossing anything on a mine cart sends it away back to town whether it is monsters, objects or even rescued slimes. This is very handy for collecting objects for gold. *Balloon panels are not nearly as handy as mine carts but are useful if you want to get your rescued slimes out of harm's way. This is why you see a lot of Balloon panels in later levels. *Consider looking at the Upgrade Hut section of this walkthrough to get an idea of what objects and monsters you need to collect. *Later on there is a slime at the bar who asks for 10 swords in trade for 40 gold bars. This is a GOOD deal and highly recommended. Part III Walkthrough Introduction (Salurin Village) *First choose a game file and start a new game. *Choose a name for the hero of the game, a blue slime! (I bet you didn't see that one coming!) Watch the conversation. When given a choice choose the first option (the second option makes the Hero Hoimi Slime repeat himself.) Watch more of the conversation. You will be shown the controls for your slime character. Feel free to play around with them. Hold down A Button - Squishes your slime into a pancake. This may seem useless now but will be important later. Hold down A Button and a Direction - Stretches your slime out in the chosen direction. Letting go sends your slime into a roll. This is your main method of attack. Holding the A button and direction down until your character glows then releasing inflicts a stronger roll then your normal one. Tap A Button and a Direction - This makes your character jump. Easy! *When you are done messing around with the controls exit the screen by start. *You will be sent to a course where your objective is to break all the orange pots. Just simple use your roll attacks on all the pots. To get a good time on this test only charge your roll slightly (even the smallest roll breaks the pots) and aim between two pots if there is more then one. This causes both of them to break with only one roll. *Watch more of the conversation unfold. When given a choice choose the first option. The second option only causes the Female Red Slime to repeat herself. (Why does the game bother giving the player a second option if you are forced to choose the first one? GAH!) *Watch more of the conversation. *When your character wakes up make your way to the room's door. Meet up with the Heroic Hoimi Slime and watch the conversation. After this conversation exit your home and watch the scenario. *The Heroic Hoimi Slime meets up with you and another conversation starts. *The introduction is now over and your hero starts his adventure in Nokke Woods. Nokke Woods *Your character runs into a large blue treasure chest. Something is in it however... break it open with your roll attack. Ta Da! It's one of your slime buddies from the introduction. A conversation starts. When he gives you a choice choose the first option (guess what the second one does, that's right, he repeats himself till you choose the first option.) *Now after the conversation use your roll attack on the slime you freed. When he is in the air go under him and catch him (this is easy to do, don't worry.) He will then talk to you for a bit. After the talk go to the forest's enterance and toss him. He will talk a bit then leave (keep in mind you cannot leave the forest, yet.) *Make your way up to the next screen. A message will appear along with an envelope symbol to the left of your screen. When the message is finished you gain access to your start menu. The menu is comprised of three parts: Character and Rescue Info: The Start Menu opens to this page first. It shows how many hearts and gold you have. It also displays any special items you get along with the number of slimes in the current area and in the overall game that needs to be rescued. Envelope Screen: Read a special message given by each slime you rescue in the area. Map Screen: Shows a minimap of the area. You can move the pointer around rooms you have uncovered to gain information such as the number of trapped and free slimes in the place as well as special things of note (such as mine carts) to appear on the left side of the screen. Pressing Select on this screen causes the map to zoom out and show a sky high view of the area. Useless but cool. *You might as well read the Yellow Winged Slime's envelope before leaving the Start Screen. Now exit the screen and rescue the Red Slime from the chest to your right. Listen to what he has to say then take him to the enterance and toss him out (just like the previous slime.) Are you getting the hang of this? Good because this is how you rescue the majority of your fellow slimes. *Ignore the mysteriously sealed well and make your way west. Free the Yellow Slime from the blue chest then head north east and free the Green Slime from his respective chest. Break open the pair of pots nearby for a few gold to. Do the familiar roll and catch on them then take them back to the enterance. *After they leave the barrier preventing you from the next area slides away. Read the rescued slimes' messages on the Envelope Screen (might as well) then make you way to the newly opened room. *In the new room free the Blue King Slime to your immediate right. If you try to leave the screen the Blue King Slime won't let you. Now go north and roll into the button jutting out from an odd machine. This will start up the Mine Cart (I know it doesn't look much like one but that is what I will be calling it for the rest of this walkthrough.) Toss your buddy onto it and watch him go. This is a crucial thing to keep in mind: anything you toss onto a Mine Cart goes to town. This includes monsters, objects and rescued slimes. Using Mine Cart's saves a lot of time and hassle it would take to drag everything you find back to the area's enterance. Remember, use Mine Carts. They are your friends. *Head east and break two more pots for some gold. You'll run into a black and yellow construction barrier. Head north and break the other two pots then roll and catch the nearby boulder. Toss it onto a passing Mine Cart. Why? Any object you can pick up and taken back to town is worth gold. Selling objects is the best way to earn money. To emphasize this point, check your current gold (the amount you gathered from those pots.) It should be around 15. That boulder is worth 55G. Enough said. You can also get Apples from the nearby apple tree but they are troublesome to roll and catch. Missing a catch breaks them which is frustrating. I'd pass on them for now. Make your way north west in this room and break the lone pot before heading north into the next room. *Start going west in the new room and you will be given a message. Choose the first option (though choosing the second option three times makes it disappear as well. I still recommend choosing the first option though.) Head up through the tunnel and go north till you find another large blue chest. Free the Cleric Hoimi Slime. He'll talk to you about Bombcrags (oh look! One is now to the south of you.) Don't try to roll and catch the slime, he'll just teleport right off. Now go to the Bombcrag and roll and catch him. Be sure to catch him because missing causes the Bombcrag to detonate! (But don't worry, he's way easier to catch then Apples.) Listen to the Cleric Hoimi Slime then go to the rock wall to the east (the one blocking the tracks.) Give yourself a bit of distance then toss the Bombcrag. The explosion will demolish the wall. *You and the Cleric Hoimi Slime then make your way out on the now working Mine Carts. The Cleric Hoimi Slime tells you the importance of Time. A Time meter will appear on the top left of your screen for now on. Now you have a time limit in areas (though it is a very generous limit.) The further the colored area reaches clockwise, the more time that has been spent. When it reaches the six o' clock position your time is up and you are immediately kicked out of the place. Frankly I don't think you have to be worrying about keeping track of time unless you are spending a large amount of time gathering objects or monsters. When your character leaves the area he is given the following information on three screens. One tells you how many slimes you've rescued, the next shows any monsters you have captured (this screen does not appear if you have none) and the third one shows how many objects you gathered (this screen does not appear if you have none.) Surlun Town *Watch the scenario. Choose the first option when given a choice or face the wrath of the repeating second option. Watch the rest of the scenario. Note that the number of slimes you have rescued causes any Steel Balls equal to that number to disappear (for example, if you have rescued 70 slimes then any Steel Ball with a 70 on it is removed from the town.) Exit your home and talk to your rescued buddies. The Church to the east of your home is where you can save your game. Just talk to the Cleric Hoimi Slime and choose the first option then the save file then the first option then choose the first option if you want to keep playing or the second if you want to stop (forcing you to either shut off or reset your gameboy advance.) *By the way, click Start. Your Start screens in town are different from the ones in the dungeons. The first screen you come up to is the familiar information screen, unchanged from the dungeon version. Click R to go to a screen with two options. The first lets you see any monsters you have captured (none yet) and the second lets you view any objects you have gathered (hopefully a boulder at least.) Click R again to come to a screen where you can view the slimes you have rescued, their location in town and if you click A you can read a message they have for you. The messages they give you are the same as the ones on the Envelope Screen in the dungeons. *Leave town to go to the World Map. Move your character to Nokke Forest and enter it. Nokke Woods Revisited *As you make your way up you see a Momonja. He runs off, follow him! Go west in the second room till you see the Momonja again. He runs off, follow him again! In the third room he heads eastwards. Chase that Momonja and you will see him and an accomplice (notice he has two tails) talking over the black and yellow barrier. After the talk the barrier is removed and you are left to fight the Momonja you were chasing. Combat is a matter of using your roll manuever on an enemy. Charging your roll deals more damage obviously. If you catch your enemy you can toss him at other enemies or into objects, both inflict damage. Personally I just rolled and caught this Momonja then tossed him onto a passing Mine Cart. Why? Because capturing monsters are needed for Upgrading the town (later in the game) and for Monster Capture statues. The other option is defeating the monster in which they blow up and leave gold but more often then not the amount is not worth the time and effort. Take my advice and just capture any enemy you meet to take them out of combat if a Mine Cart is nearby. *Head east into the next room. In the next room you should find a Large Blue Chest, free the Yellow Winged Slime within. Suddenly the room will become sealed, it's a Drakee ambush! Beat on them with the roll technique and feel free to toss your buddy or other Drakees at them. (Note that rescued slimes are indestructable, you can even toss them into lava and they'll survive.) After the battle pick up your friend and destroy the nearby pots. Right now you can go back to the previous room and send your friend away on a Mine Cart. *After that head north until you see two more Momonjas talking with a barrier between them. The barrier will be removed. Get rid of the remaining Momonja however you wish then go into the available room. In this room you will run into a Drakee and a crystal barrier. Get rid of the Drakee and ignore the barrier, you won't be able to destroy it for awhile. Continue north and rescue the Green Babble. Head back to the Mine Cart room and send him off. Now go west. *Watch as the Momonjas remove the final barrier. Beat on the Momonja then go into the western room. A stone barrier will be in your way. Now head east and go north into the room where the Cleric Hoimi Slime was. Remember the Bombcrag? Go pick him up and note that he regenerates if you miss (or toss him on a Mine Cart. Remember that you can gather Bombcrags for money.) *After getting rid of the barrier continue west then south until you see another Bombcrag, a Momonja and a Stone Barrier. Use the Bombcrag to blow up the barrier and continue down the path. You will find another Stone Barrier so retrace your steps and pick up another Bombcrag. Break down the barrier then follow the path to a dead end. Watch as a Momonja uses an Orange Mushroom to escape. Copy him by jumping onto the mushroom then holding down A until you are flattened. Let go and watch yourself fly into the air. *You will land in a new room. Break the nearby pots then head east. You will be trapped in between a couple stone pillars by a Momonja. Just use your roll to break down the barriers. Watch the Momonja go off. Follow him and prepare yourself for a bombardment of Horn Rabbits. Dodge and roll your way to him then roll attack your way through the stone barriers and to the Momonja. Attack him to stop all those Horn Rabbits. This is your first mini-boss battle Mini-Boss: Double Tailed Momonja Just roll attack him until he is defeated (sadly you cannot catch him. If you do he just jumps out of your grasp.) This is a very easy battle. *Collect the nineteen gold he leaves behind and watch as the Momonja shaped barrier opens up for you. These barriers only open if you defeat the mini-boss of the area. Now go through it and enter the open well to your right. You will exit out the well from the beginning (opening it up.) Now you can go back to town (I don't know why you would though) or you can go back into the well and head north. The Dragon Warrior symbol on the ground heals you completely. Always lookout for these in dungeons as they are incredibly handy. Continue north and enter the large metal doors (which have an awesome animation) to fight the boss of Nokke Woods, Golem. Boss: Golem To damage Golem just do your roll attack. I recommend charging your roll and aiming diagonally at him to increase your chance of hitting as he moves side to side. When Golem pumps his arms that means he is going to do a charge attack. Just move out of his way and wait until the attack is over before commencing your roll barrage. As he weakens his charges will speed up. Continue your attack and dodge pattern until he is defeated. After the battle collect the twenty nine gold left behind (even bosses are worth little money) then head north to the next room. *Rescue the Old Green Slime from the chest and listen to what he has to say. He automatically exits the level through the warp gate. Use it as well to exit the level. Surlun Town *Watch the scenario. After it a new location will open up, Ul Otter River. Save your game. You can now head back to Nokke Woods to gather objects or monsters but right now that is not important. Head to Ul Otter River when ready. -For the rest of my walkthrough I'll assume you know how to beat enemies, free slimes and send them back home through Mine Carts by now. I won't be going into detail on such things unless there is a special reason. Just be sure to send rescued slimes home as soon as you can. Again, always gather monsters and objects when given the opportunity to do so. I cannot stress this enough if you want to avoid spending loads of time in the future gathering all sorts of stuff. Ul Otter River *Go north and free the Tiny Red Slime. He will teach you the Burrow ability. Basically in any beach area you can hold down the A button until your character goes into the ground. This allows you to pass the archways with tiny holds in them (such as the one right in front of you.) Pass the barrier and rescue the Yellow Rock Slime. Now head east. *Notice the Raft (that resembles a Mine Cart) with the x4 on it? That means it can hold four objects, monsters, slimes in any combination. It can also hold you and three other objects. This is very handy for gathering monsters and items quickly so take advantage of it.Leap off the bridge and rescue the Purple Slime in the room. Head south until you see a waterfall. Leap up it then enter the room. *In the room free the two slimes (a Red Fish Slime and Red Hoimi Slime.) In the same room is a Balloon Panel where you can send one object, monster, slime or yourself back home. In the south of the room is a King Green Slime to rescue. Be careful of the Sandworm. If you are swallowed by one you can escape by pressing the directions and buttons it shows. Head all the way back to the Raft room and go to the room directly east of the waterfall. *Rescue the Silver Winged Slime and head over to the second last rock to the right (out of all the rocks in the room.) Roll and hit it along the faded path by rolling it south then east. When it reaches up to the stairs hit it again and it should go flying. This releases the water and allows you to reach another slime chest (a Shelled Green Slime.) Exit the room through the east. *Free the Baby Hoimi Slime and Red Babble. Pick up the Bombcrag and make your way to the Raft room. *Head north of the stairs to another set of stairs then go up them. Toss your Bombcrag at the barrier in front of you and enter the next room. Free the Blue Shelled Slime and use the nearby Bombcrag to break down the stone barrier. Continue through the room and enter the next one to the north. (Note: The crystal barriers cannot be avoided by shrinking. You'll get access to them later. Patience.) *Free the Orange Slime with Black Spots and get a Bombcrag to break down the nearby Stone Barrier. Go west the head up under the bridge. Free the Pink Angel Slime. ou can use the geysers to propel yourself up to the higher part of this room. Just hold A until the geyser is flattened to the ground then release the button. But instead head back down and exit the room through the west exit. * Rescue the Red Winged Slime here. Make your way north and free the Grey and Black Spotted Slime King from the chest. Exit the room through the north. You will find a lone treasure chest so roll and break it open. Collect the Berry Inside to get a permanent boost to your heart total. Now pick up the wood in this room and head back to the sandworm room and pick up the wood there. Do not send them off on a raft, hang onto them! Now head through the north east exit of the sand worm room and go across the bridge. Pick up the third piece of wood then enter the lighthouse. *Inside you will see a Momonja doing repairs on the furnace. Toss your three pieces of wood into the furnace and the fourth one that is nearby. Exit the lighthouse and head north and across the small bridge. Rescue the Red Rock Slime then leap off the bridge and head north out of the room. Make sure you send the Red Rock Slime Home before you go further. *Follow the extensive path and free the Grey Tree Slime and Pink Tree Slime. A bunch of Octopus enemies will appear and hamper your way back. If you were carrying nothing then you can take the wood as well. This is the final piece of wood that you need to toss into the furnace. Head back to the lighthouse. Toss the final piece of wood in and watch the impressive scenario. After the scenario go to the room where you found the Berry and enter the Momonja doorway. *Free the well then heal up before entering the large metal gate to fight the Boss of Ul Otter River: Dragon Kid Boss: Dragon Kid Dragon Kid will attack you with fireballs while moving around quickly. Don't spend time charging your rolls. Make small, fast rolls at him. After a few hits he'll move to one side of the screen and inflate himself. He will be immune to your roll attacks in this form. He'll first shoot out a stream of water that will push your character back without damage. The next attack will be a spread shot of fireballs that will do damage so leap over or go between them. After this he will jump and send a bunch of rocks flying to the ground. Pick up these rocks using your roll and catch manuever and toss them at him. Continue doing this until he shrinks back down. Now just repeat what you did at the beginning. He will then inflate back up and jump around. Use your jump to dodge him (your character will bounce off his body) and continue to toss rocks at him when he stops to catch his breath. *After defeating Dragon Kid rescue the Metal Babble and head back to town. Surlun Town *Watch the scenario. The next dungeon, Nikomisky Mine, will open up. Watch as the Momonja from the lighthouse explosion comes to town. Enter the building in the scenario and choose the first option when he talks to you then choose the second. He will then ask for 1 of something (not sure) Exit town and enter the mine. Nikomisky Mine *Head north and free the Purple Rock Slime and Green Hoimi Slime. Make your way north into the next room then stand on the pad with arrows on it. Don't jump or press anything, just wait a second. Now roll into the lever you find from either the left or right. Hitting it from the right side covers the left fire and vice versa. Free the left area first then go up the elevator. Head west into the next room. *Dodge the multitude of enemies and free the Light Blue Tree Slime. Head all the way back to the lever and free the right area. Head east into the room and free the Blue and Purple Spotted Slime. Go east and enter the room with a mine cart in it. *Now pick up the Toy Knight. You will now be able to perform a slash attack if the Toy Knight is the first object you are holding. You can now slash apart any balloons in your way. Head north into the next room and slash the balloons to reach another room filled with even more balloons. *Slash your way to the south west corner and rescue the Green Fish Slime. Go north and rescue the Light Blue Rock Slime. Note that there is a four person Mine Cart in the room north of you if you wish to get rid of your slime friend easily. You might as well rescue the Red King Slime, Green Winged Slime, Grey Baby Hoimi Slime and the Light Blue Slimeborg. Now head back to the Fire Elemental room and leap over the lava to your right. Hold A while leaping to float over a longer distance. *Now follow the path and rescue the Orange Star Shaped Slime and Black Demon Slime. There is an Orange Mushroom that you can reach in the middle of the lava that will take you back to the previous room but personally I would just take the path you took. Head back to the fire elemental room and leap over the lava and enter the left room. *Follow the path and rescue the Metal King and Pink Baby Slime. Use the handy orange mushroom to go back to the Fire Elemental room. Now head north into the Mine Cart room then head north again into the next room. *First save the Yellow Egg slime to the right of the elevator pad (he is partially surrounded by fencing.) Go up the elevator pad. Now look at the ground carefully and you will see outlines of square sections of the floor. Touching the floor causes these sections to collapse. As you make your way through here only tap the sections then quickly jump off. To cross the pits just leap and float. Pick up the Toy Knight in the south west part of the area and rescue the Red Slimeborg. Fall down one of the pits and save the Tiny Green Slime to the far east of the bottom portion of the room and head north to the massive Momonja balloon. Slash it to get rid of the barrier on the second floor. Head back up to the second floor and enter the now available north exit. * Watch the scenario then face off against the two double tailed Momonjas. Mini-Boss: Two Double Tailed Momonjas This should be an easy battle if you have the Toy Knight. Just slash away. If not then do your roll attacks and use the Gold Bar nearby as a weapon by tossing it. *Enter the Momonja gate and free the well. Make your way north to face off against the boss of Nikomisky Mine: Vampire. Boss: Vampire His attack will consist of lunging at you. Dodge him quickly by moving around, don't bother rolling. When you dodge his lunge you have a bit of time to do a roll attack. If you manage to roll and catch him toss him into the lava then wait for him to get back onto his feet. He will then burst into a flock of bats. Now attack all out on this form as this is the only way you can damage him. After getting a bit of damage the Vampire will gain another attack involving three energy beams in a spread out fashion. Jump to dodge these and roll attack him. This time only the lava above can be used to scorch the Vampire (the side lava cools down any time he starts using his beam attack.) Just follow this pattern until he is defeated. I admit though that once you get him down to just a couple of bats he will be tricky to hit. *After beating the Vampire enter the north room then free the Blue Gentleman Slime. He will give you the ability to shatter those annoying crystals. He does so and frees the Large Pink Slime. You can now break crystals using your roll attack (any sort of roll works so there is no need to charge it.) Head back to town. Surlun Town *Watch the scenario then exit town. Reenter it and watch the scenario. After it head over to the Momonja Hut and answer the first option to both of his questions. You now have access to the Upgrade Hut! For more information see the guide on it below. *Now that we can bust down those annoying crystals let's revisit the dungeons starting with Nokke Woods. Nokke Woods *Break down the crystal barrier and enter the well you find. It will teleport you to a place where you can find another Berry (adding an extra heart to your total.) Head back in the well and continue east. You will come across an odd totem pole with a slime holding a Momonja, a Drakee and another Momonja (in that order.) Now copy the statue and grab those three monsters in that order. Keep in mind you can switch the order of what you are holding by using the L and R buttons. Step on the pad to the right of the statue when you have the three monsters. *Enter through the open door to see the next statue: A Barrel followed by a Horn Rabbit then an Apple. Copy the statue by gathering the three items and step on the panel when you have them in the correct order on your head. *Rescue the three slimes here: Green Ninja Slime, Light Blue Angel Slime and Dark Blue Slimeborg. Head back to the village. You now have every slime rescued from Nokke Woods! *Now move onto the next dungeon with a crystal barrier, Ul Otter River. Ul Otter River *Remember, the crystal barriers are in the room with the first Bombcrag and Tortragon in the dungeon. Break them both down then enter the whirlpool to the right. The statue puzzle is the same as the last dungeon. Statue 1: Momonja, Hammer Executioner, Shell Statue 2: Octopus, Tortragon, Octopus *Rescue the three slimes here: Blue Ninja Slime, Shelled Red Slime, and Black Hoimi Slime. Exit the dungeon, all the slimes from Ul Otter River are now rescued. *Head to the last dungeon Nikomisky Mine. Nikomisky Mine *By now you should be getting the general idea on how these puzzles work. The final one can be foudn by breaking down the crystal barrier in the second room. Statue 1: Toy Knight. Statue 2: Three gold bars. *Rescue the three slimes here: Red Ninja Slime, Light Blue Babble and Dark BLue Angel Slime. Now return home. Surlun Town *With all the slimes rescued from the three dungeons it is time to visit the ninja slimes you rescued. Head down to the beach area and fall down the slime shaped hole in the ground. Answer the first option to the choices you are given. Inside this building are three panels with Japanese letters on them. Roll into them to do a ninja's test. Beating a test unlocks another dungeon. Green Slime's Test: Go over to the rock in the far north east corner. Move away a bit and wait for the ninja to start sneezing. Run up and talk to him. (Note: For emulator users make sure you have Sound enabled or else the rock will stay static.) This will unlock a dungeon: Deep in Nokke Wood. Blue Slime's Test: This is the hardest test. You have to roll or toss the running blue slime into the net in the center of this area. If you hold him for too long he disappears out of your grasp. There is no set strategy but try to roll into him when he is near the center net rather then trying to catch and toss him. Once you complete this test he will unlock a dungeon: Cara Cara Pool. Red Slime's Test: This is simple. Just go up and talk to the American Flag on the north wall. He will unlock the Mt.Merazoma dungeon. *You can do the following dungeons in any order. I'm going to start with Cara Cara Pool. Cara Cara Pool *Head north into the next room then north again into another room. Now rescue the Green King Slime and go north yet again. Make your way across the sand worm pits and rescue the Blue and Orange Fish Slime. Head east past the sand worms and Octopus and go into the next room. *Shrink down and go through the barrier and head south. You'll see a small scenario involving Pixies. Go through the south west exit and head into the next room. Here you'll fight a whole bunch of Pixies. Dodge the stuff they throw at you and try to hit them with Bombrags for a quick fight. Rescue the Light Blue with Dark Blue Spotted Slime and Red King Babble. Break down the nearby stone barrier to the east. Head through the south west exit of this room. *Make your way through the mud in this room to the north east corner where a geyser and two Bombcrags are. Grab a Bombcrag and use the geyser to return to the stone barrier in this room. Blow it up and go east to get another Bombcrag. You will need to blow up the stone barrier in the room west of here. Blow up the barrier then go north. *In this room there are a series of large petals floating on the water. Make your way west on them and free the Orange with Yellow Spotted Slime. Head back east and exit through the north. *Free the Purple Demon Slime here then get ready for a kind of complex stone pushing puzzle. Just follow these brief instructions: 1) Hit the first stone you see to the west. 2) Go east and into the small barrier to reach another stone. Hit it to the north. 3) Now hit the next stone to the east. 4) Hit the stone to the south. 5) Hit the stone to the north and head south west through the passage until you see another Stone. 7) Hit the Stone to the east. 8) Go north west and enter the well you find. 9) Hit the stone to the west which releases water. 10) Go south and enter the next well. 11) Hit the stone to the east which floods another area. 12) Go north then up the stairs and south to reach another stone. 13) Hit the stone to the east and flood yet another section. 14) Go north east into a water filled passage then hit the stone to the east. 15) Go north then hit the stone to the north. 16) Hit the next stone east. The one after should be hit southward then the next one east. 17) Hit the next stone east then the second one south. The final stone guarding water needs to be hit east. *Now with the puzzle solved go through the small barrier to the north and enter the next room which contains the Mini-Boss of this place, a whole bunch of Hammer Executioners. Mini-Boss: Group of Hammer Executioners *This is a simple fight. Just roll and disarm the Hammer Executioners then toss them into the sandworm pit. *After the fight enter the Momonja gate. Free the well, heal up then go into the metal gate to fight... Boss: Red Tortragon For his first attacks (spinning around like a normal Tortragon) just burrow underground then go under him and pop back out. He'll go on his back allowing you to deal damage with your roll attacks. He will then flood the area preventing your burrowing. Just dodge his attacks until Kid Dragon shows up to help you. Now you can spit fireballs with the B button. Attack Tortragon when he is not spinning to deal damage. He will have another attack involving circling flames. Just leap over them at the right time (kind of like jump rope.) *After you beat the boss rescue the Pink Shelled Slime with Bokken and pick up the Blue Tablet. Head back to town and watch the scenario. Now let's head on to the next dungeon, Mt. Merazoma. Mt. Merazoma *Enter and go north to watch a scenario involving a spooky cloaked figure. Continue north into the next room. *Go through the west exit then continue west (ignore the treasure chests, they are full of Horks) into the next room. Make your way across the lava and rescue the Dark Blue Shelled Slime. Pick up a Bombcrag then head back to the east room and blow up the stone barrier. There will be a treasure chest full of money (Yay!) Go grab another bombcrag then head to the very first room and blow up the east stone barrier. Head into the next room then go down the pipe to the south. *Go on the collapsible panel then fall down into a room with four Horks. Pick up the Toy Knight and slash away at the balloons to the north (or you could attack the Hork over and over again, more will pop up whenever you kill them.) Make your way through the passage by slashing the balloons and Hork in the way. Go up the Dragon Quest style stairs and slash the balloons in the room. Rescue the Tiny Blue Slime then go through the west exit. *Slash the balloons and head north. Slash the balloons in your way and make your way to the rock panel between the two fenced areas. Leap over the lava to the fenced areas to rescue Professor Slime and Pink Hoimi Slime with Apron. Use the healing pad then enter the next room to the North. *Defeat all the enemies here. Rescue the Crystal Slime here. Go north into the next room. *Ride the mine cart (meaning you have to drop your Toy Knight) to reach the west area and rescue the Grey Star Shaped Slime. Step on the blue plus sign switch as well to lower the barrier to your right. No go on the mine cart and cross the lava to reach the north exit. Enter the next room. *In this room you have to make your way across the lava while leaping over a string of fireballs. Take your time and perform your jumps at the right moments. Reach the east side of the room then exit through the south exit. *Now you are back in the mine cart room except on the left side. Make your way across the moving panels to rescue the Large White Spotted Slime. Go north into the next room. *Make your way across the moving panels (while dodging the enemies such as Red Mages!) into the next room to the north. Get ready to fight a mini-boss. Mini-Boss: Toy Knight wielding Momonja This battle is actually kind of hard if you put your guard down. Just quickly pick up the Toy Knight and attack the Momonja. Don't give him a chance to start slashing back or you'll regret it. Do not use your roll attacks. He will just slash you and deal major damage. It is crucial you do not get trapped in his multiple slashes or you'll die. After the battle head up into the next room, heal up and free the well. Go into the large metal door to fight... Boss: Ice and Fire Twins *This battle is very, very easy. Just follow this pattern, roll and catch a twin then toss him into the other. Your roll attacks deal no damage yet an ice twin hitting a fire twin deals damage and vice versa. If you keep doing this neither of them shouldn't get an attack in. When you defeat one twin they leave an item (Ice Sword from the Ice twin and a Fire Gauntlet from the Fire twin.) Pick it up and use it against the other twin. The Ice Sword needs to be picked up every time you toss it but the gauntlet throws fireballs whenever you press B which helps end the battle quickly. Do not forget to take these items with you as you leave the level, they are worth 200G a piece. *Free the Red Egg Slime and pick up the Red Tablet. Leave the area. In town watch the scenario then head off to the next dungeon, Deep in Nokke Woods. Deep in Nokke Woods *In the first room rescue the White Egg Slime. Head east into the next room and rescue the Light Blue Demon Slime. Head north into the next room. *The gater is closed and so is the well. Just continue to the west into the next room. *Go north into the open gate and watch it close. There are four slimes to rescue here: Grey King Slime, Gold Slime, Green and Orange Spotted Slime, and the Sea Green Hoimi Slime. But alas you cannot exit the room. You have to solve the puzzle here first. Notice the railway tiles that resemble crayon drawings? You can roll on them then catch them. Now there are four possible positions to set the railway panels down. 1) Where the vertically straight panel is. 2) The empty panel near the vertically straight panel. 3) Where the left turn panel is (in the south west corner.) 4) Where the right turn panel is (in the north east corner.) Now place the vertical panel in location #4, the left turn panel in location #1 and finally the right turn panel in location #3. Once this is done you can toss the slimes onto the mine cart and send them home. You have to send them all home if you want the gate to open. Now head west into the next room. *There is a secret passage through the trees to your west (a floating butterfly gives a clue to this.) Just head directly west from the enterance and you will walk through the trees. Rescue the Yellow King Spotted Slime then head south into the next room to rescue the White Angel Slime. In this room is a money tree. Hit it and gather the gold that falls. Sometimes it takes more then one hit to get all the gold. Head back north and through the secret passage. Continue north through the open gate. Here you will be ambushed by Horn Rabbits. Defeat them to unlock the north and south gates. Enter the north one into the next room. *Horn Rabbits will keep appearing from the mine cart in this room. Rescue the Grey Slimeborg here then go through the northwest exit. Time to fight the mini-boss. Mini-Boss: Female Momonja She is pretty fast and immune to your roll and catching attacks. Instead use the Bombcrags around her to your advantage, toss them at her (or roll into them then move away from the explosion as they crash to the ground.) This battle shouldn't be too bad. *After beating her go through the now open gate and enter the well in the next room. You will teleport to another Momonja gate (now opened.) Enter it to reach the boss: Iron Golem. Boss: Iron Golem *His first attacks involve jumping around then shooting a steam of rocks from both hands. Keep rolling into him (even though you are doing no damage) until his body blows up. Now he is just a head. Roll into him as many times as you can because this is the only way you can damage him. He will then regenerate his body. Just repeat the process and you'll defeat him in no time. *Rescue the Platinum Slime and pick up the Green Tablet. Head back to town. Surlun Town *Watch the scenario. Even with all three tablets the slimes still cannot solve the mystery of them. Watch another scenario then head to the Lighthouse on the beach (reach it through one of the whirlpools.) Go to the uppermost level then search the south west corner of the area. When you see the B button prompt click it to talk to the Pink Shelled Slime with Bokken. He will reveal the Secret Tablet Area. Watch the scenario. After it you will gain access to the next dungeon: Slime Tail. Head over to there when you are ready. Slime Tail *Go north into the next room and rescue the Green Egg Slime. Note that objects, monsters, and slimes that are tossed into the warp spot in the center are sent home. This is great for amassing the various things in this dungeon. *Now this room has four sets of three pedestals. You have to get a sword from one of the nearby Rogue Knights then toss it on the right pedestal for each set. Here are the answers to this puzzle: Far Left Set: Toss sword in the right pedestal. Left Set: Toss sword in the left pedestal. Right Set: Toss sword in the middle pedestal. Far Right Set: Toss sword in the left pedestal. *Rescue the four slimes that are now available: Blue Winged Slime, Tiny Grey Slime, Grey and Black Spotted Slime and Ruby Slime. Now Slime Tail can be a confusing dungeon considering it is split into four parts (four different floors respectively.) For each barrier set you remove there is a path that leads to a different part of the dungeon. I'm going to name each part the same as the set names. If you are not sure whether or not you have beaten a certain part check the lightbulbs on either side of the rope leading to it. If they are lit that means you have completed it. If not then that means you still have to finish it. Far Left Path *Go up the ropes then head into the doorway. In this room there are sliding walls with spikes. You are damaged when hit with spiked sections but only flattened temporarily when hit by the smooth sections. Make your way through here and rescue the Yellow Baby Hoimi Slime. Enter the next room to the east. *In this room there is a large stone and metal frame that will drop down to flatten you. To cross them safely just stand on the tiled spots below them. Make your way to the south part of the room where there is a whirlpool (which leads back to the second room) and a conveyor belt. Halfway through the conveyor belt is a slime chest. Rescue Grey Rock Slime and make your way back north and go through the north exit into the next room. *Watch out for the Mad Hands that will immbolize you. Make your way to the north east exit and enter the next room. *It's Ogre time! He is indestructable so don't bother rolling or tossing stuff at him. To the far north east corner there is a blue button. Roll into it then escape this room through a whirlpool to the west of where you are. You are now finished the Far Left Path. Now go to the Left Path. Left Path *You have to jump on the yo-yo like platforms to make your way across the spikes. I recommend you first go to the west room however. *In the west room head to the south east part and rescue the King Red and Yellow Spotted Slime. Head back to the previous room. *Rescue the Grey Slime then enter the north area. *Ogre time again! Of course he cannot cross spikes so you are safe on the yo-yo platforms. Now go save the Bright Pink Hoimi Slime to the far west side of the room (you have to use the yo-yo platform) then head to the north east corner of the room and hit the red button. Now escape by using one of the many balloon panels or the whirlpool to the far west corner. You have finished the Left Path. Now move onto the Right Path. Right Path *Here there are tons of fans that will float your character up sky high. Save the Orange Tree slime directly to your north. Now float up and over on top of the north platform and enter the room to your left. *Follow the path of fans and head to the centre of the north wall to rescue the Dark Blue Shelled Slime. Head back to the previous room then enter the room to the right. *This room is filled with smoke. Leap into it and make your way to the north east corner where you should see an ON button. Leap onto it to activate the fans and remove the smoke in the room. Now head across to the north west corner and hit the off button (watch out for the floating bombcrags!) Now the fans will stop allowing you to go through the room easily. Rescue the Prince Metal Slime in the south east corner then head north into the final room on this path. *Oh my, it's the Ogre again! (I bet you didn't see that one coming!) There are no slimes here to rescue so just hurry over to the north wall and hit the green button. After that just go into the whirlpool in the center of the room to warp back to the main room. Now enter the final path for unlocking the central door, the far right path. Far Right Path *Head to the north east corner and rescue the Orange Slimeborg. Go to the next room through the north west exit. *Rescue the Dark Blue Fish slime in the south west corner then go north into the next room. *It's the Ogre, again. This time the room is full of stone barriers without a bombcrag in sight. You have to trick the Ogre to bust them down for you by going behind a barrier (not literally, just as far as you can) so the Ogre's travel path intersects a barrier. He will smash it down for you. Use this strategy to gain access to the treasure chest with a Power Berry in the far north west corner, the Grey King Babble slime near the room's enterance, and finally the yellow button in the center of the north wall. After you get all this then exit the room through the whirlpool in the middle. It's now time to enter the central gate. Central Path *As you enter through the Momonja gate you will be sent into a room where you shall fight your last battle with the Ogre. This time you can actually beat him however! Mini-Boss: Ogre First head quickly to the north east and you'll see a button. Whenever you press on this button a platform will smash down on the sand area in the room flattening anything in the way (including the Ogre.) You have to flatten the Ogre by somehow leading him onto the sand then quickly hitting the button. Once flattened, pick up the Ogre and head over to the warp spot on the far west side of the room and toss him in. A bunch of Mad Hands will be after you so hurry up before they get the chance to grab you (and force you to drop the Ogre.) After this head into the open north door into the next room. *Rescue the Heroic Hoimi Slime here then head into the next room to fight the first form of the final boss. Final Boss: Master Momonja, First Form The boss can be damaged by roll attacks so do them whenever you have the chance. There are two attacks he will do. One is to have a henchman up high shoot down from below. This is easy to dodge and you can even trick the henchman into shooting the boss! The second is the boss will summon a whole bunch of henchmen in front of him. This barrier of Momonja is indestructable so don't bother rolling into them. Just leap over the lines of bullets they fire (they fire about 2-4 of them.) After you deal a bit of damage to him he'll say something then shoot the screen (giving the effect of your GBA screen being shattered!) This is supposed to hamper your sight but it didn't slow me down. Just continue your pattern until he is defeated. Now time to fight his second form! Second Form In this form the Master Momonja will be in a high tech suit. Rolls do no damage to him and instead you must rely on tossing the slimes that are around into him. His first attack is launching his two arms at you. This can easily be dodged by just staying in the center of him (though the attack does sometimes block you off from picking up a slime buddy.) After a bit of damage is dealt to him he will start releasing banana peels which will cause your character to slip and drop the slimes he is holding. Leap and toss your slimes at him quickly when he starts tossing peels. Just continue following his pattern and tossing slimes at him until you run out, meaning you have defeated his second form. Watch the scenario then move onto Third (and final) Form The first thing the Master Momonja does is toss a bunch of toys and other objects at you. Catch them and hang onto them. He will then start shooting in both directions then cross them through the center and repeat this again. Dodge this then get ready for his next attack. He will rush up and follow your movements. Keep jumping to dodge his bear hug then roll into his arms. He will spin around. Now toss your objects at the red lump on the back of his head to deal damage. Continue doing this until he is defeated. Sometimes he will shoot ball-like projectiles instead of the normal shooting attack. These are easy to dodge so don't worry too much about them. He will also toss a can and start shooting it old west style. Dodge this and make sure you don't get crushed by the spinning can. *After beating him you will rescue the Red Slime with a Bow and watch the scenario. Congratulations! But wait... one more slime needs to be rescued! Try to exit town and you will see the Ogre and Upgrade Momonja discussing something as the final appears: Mio Roshter. Head there! Mio Roshter *Go up the elevator. Now one thing to keep in mind is that if you fall anywhere in Mio Roshter you are sent right back to the beginning. This includes any room and the boss battle (harsh!) Now leap across this room using the stone floating panels. You will run into one panel which can be rolled and picked up. Toss it onto any area with floating pebbles and it will be stable. Oh, and don't bother trying to take it back home, you can't. Go into the next room. *In this room there will be a bunch of floating blue hats. Touching one creates a blue mage that will summon a bunch of wyverns that will be diving then soaring to attack you. Note that rolling then tossing an enemy (even wyverns) off the platform sends them back home. Just quickly continue north into the next room without slowing down. *Wyverns will be attacking you in sets of three. Make your way north while dodging them into the next room. *Another Blue Mage room. Be sure to pick up the loose stone panel and carry it into the next room to the north. *Toss the panel onto the floating pebbles then leap into the well. Leap over to north using the floating rock panels to reach a blue mage. Answer the second option to his question then get ready for a combat oriented puzzle. There are four marble titans that you have to get off the panel. Charge your roll until you are flashing red (not just merely have a yellow outline around you) in order to knock one into the air then catch and toss him off to the land down below. Be careful you don't charge off the area or you'll be sent back to the beginning! After getting rid of all four go onto the now free elevator panel to head up and fight the boss of the area, Gold Wyvern. Boss: Gold Wyvern You cannot harm Gold Wyvern using roll attacks. You can only hurt him by tossing normal wyverns (which will swoop down in sets of three) at him. He will try to blow you off the platform using a wind attack. Don't throw wyverns against the wind, they will just go to waste. Instead roll against the wind until you are behind him then toss wyverns at him. Or you can just roll against his wind attack then wait until he starts to catch his breath before tossing wyverns at him. His other attack is swooping across the screen. Hit him with wyverns if you think you have a chance to hit him. Continue following this pattern and you should beat him in no time. *After beating the boss you can now rescue the final slime, Prince Green Slime. Enjoy the hilarious ending sequence. You've earned it! Stuff to do After Beating the Game The game is not over of course. If you want you can collect monsters, buy items, finish your upgrades, play mini-games, finish the picture puzzle etc. You can also fight the Heroic Hoimi Slime over in the hole behind the upgrade house. Optional Boss: Heroic Hoimi Slime He will be attacking by holding out his fist and charging. Dodge and manuever around him then roll attack him. If you catch him he will just escape your grasp. Continue doing this until he changes you into a Momonja. Now attack using the B button (you cannot roll.) Personally the battle becomes easier when you are a Momonja considering the reach of the tail. He will have a new attack where he attacks all around him with his tentacles. Just continue dodging his charge then attacking until you beat him. Congratulations! You can fight him again and again though I don't know why you would want to... Part VIII Upgrade Hut Information *Whenever you have the gold and items to do an upgrade, do it. Any upgrade that requires items will use up the items but if they require monsters it will not use them up. First Set of Upgrades Page 1 Upgrade 1 Needed: 1 Apple and 1 Boulder What it does: Plants flowers outside the Upgrade Hut. This is a useless upgrade but do it anyways. Upgrade 2 Needed: 3 Wood and 10G What it does: Builds a bridge just outside the Upgrade Hut. Totally useless but remember you have to do all the upgrades if you want to access the next set of upgrades. Upgrade 3 Needed: 5 Hammer guys. What it does: Creates a bridge in the Beach area. Upgrade 4 Needed: 3 Treasure chests and 130G What it does: Creates a Surf Place. Importance?: Changes the location of various slimes and lets you access the surfing mini-game. Upgrade 5 Needed: 7 Momonja and 200G What it does: Creates Trampolines on the beach. Importance?: This upgrade doesn't do much. Leave this till later if you want. Page 2 Upgrade 6 Needed: 6 Treasure Chests and 5 Shells What it does: Creates red cannons all over town. Entering these cannons allow you to be fired out back to the centre part of town. This is handy in some ways. Upgrade 7 Needed: 5 Bombcrags and 350G What it does: Opens up a new area to the west side of town. It also allows upgrade 9 to become accessible. Upgrade 8 Needed: 5 Barrels and 6 Horn Rabbits What it does: Allows you to choose a new Time Trial course that features Horn Rabbits. Upgrade 9 Needed: 6 Tortragon and 500G plus Upgrade 7 must be finished. What it does: Turns the area opened up in Upgrade 7 into a Soccer field. This allows you to access the Soccer mini-game. Upgrade 10 Needed: 15 Momonja and 7 Wood plus all other upgrades must be finished. What it does: Refurbishes the Upgrade Hut and allows you to access the second set of town upgrades. Second Set of Upgrades Page 1 Upgrade 1 Needed: 5 Apple and 6 Shell What it Does: Plants even more flowers outside the Upgrade Hut. Upgrade 2 Needed: 3 Fire Elemental and 6 Red Mage What it Does: Refurbishes the Surf Place. Upgrade 3 Needed: 7 Octopus and 700G What it Does: Creates a geyser outside the upgrade hut. This does nothing important what so ever. Upgrade 4 Needed: 6 Drakee and 1000G What it Does: Creates a bridge in the mountains to a new area and allows access to Upgrade 8. Upgrade 5 Needed: 2 Ice Sword and 2 Fire Gauntlet What it Does: Creates a waterfall in the mountain area allowing you to go up it quicker. Handy but not crucial. Page 2 Upgrade 6 Needed: 4 Railway Tile and 1250G What it Does: Creates railway tiles all over the town. Stepping on these turns your character into a hyper fast wheel. Remember all those piggy banks around town? Well now you can break them if you charge into them while in wheel form. There is a piggy bank just outside the Upgrade Hut, another just outside the Monster Statue Building and another on the Beach. In total you get about 200 gold from the piggy banks. Upgrade 7 Needed: 5 Mummy and 1400G What it Does: Creates a Bar in town which gives a home for a lot of slimes and changes the location of a few. It also allows you to trade 10 swords (normal ones not ice swords) with one slime in return for forty gold, a very good deal considering they can all be sold for total of four thousand gold! You can only do this once however. Upgrade 8 Needed: 7 Hork and 1650G plus Upgrade 4 must be finished. What it Does: Creates the Monster Statue Building which is the home to many slimes, the picture puzzle and statues of monsters you have captured. By capturing more monsters (up to 100 of a type) you receive more elaborate statues on different floors. Upgrade 9 Needed: 5 Pixy and 2000G What it Does: Creates a soccer arena which adds even more challenges to the soccer mini-game. Upgrade 10 Needed: 50 Gold Bars (!) and 5000G (!!) plus all other upgrades must be finished and you must have a Red Momonja captured. What it Does: The Upgrade Hut's owner proposes then marries the Red Momonja. They decide to settle down (Awwww!) Well, after Upgrade 10 that is it for upgrades, congratulations! Part IX Item Shop Information You can sell an item back for half the money of its cost. Acorn of Life - Price Varies These Acorns add an extra heart to your character's life meter. Leaf of the Yaggdrasil - 500G If your health is reduced to nothing this item will be used up to bring you back to full health. Dew of Yaggdrasil - 150G If your health is reduced to nothing this item will be used up to bring you back to half health. Sand of Time - 100G When your time is up this item will be used up to reset the time meter. Purse of Happiness - 1000G (You can only buy one) Once you have this item monsters will drop more gold. A very handy item to buy. Part X Picture Pieces Under Construction! 1 can be won from the Surfing Mini-game when you first beat the high score of 2000 points. 1 can be found in the item shop. Run into the drawer to the left with a roll attack to find it. 3 can be won from beating all three of the time trial challenges given by the Yellow Slime with Glasses. Part XI Mini-Games Time Trial Talk to the yellow slime in glasses next to the church to access the time trial challenges. My advice is to ues the smallest rolls possible to break the pots and save time. Battle Arena In the house to the south west corner of the town (where all the buildings are) is the Battle Arena. Here you can pay ten gold to choose an arena (either wood, lake or lava) and fight 18 floors of enemies (actually twenty but one floor is a rest stop and the other is where you get your medal.) The enemies depend on the floor chosen: Wood (left): Momonja, Horn Rabbits, Drakee. Lake (center): Hammer Executioner, Tortragon, Octopus, Pixies. Lava (right): Fire Elementals, Red Mage, Hork Soccer Field and Soccer Arena Surf Game Part XII Miscellaneous Extras -You can give each slime in the Nursery a Toy Knight to play with. Just talk to them and answer yes to the first option. Obviously you need to have the Toy Knight to begin with. -After the Bar is made there is one slime that will trade 40 gold bars for ten normal swords. This is a great deal yet it can only be done once. Part XIII Contributions and Special Thanks I did not make this FAQ alone. I had some assistance from a few individuals. Thank you for your help!
